Thoughts on Security on entering 11:30 - Jan 20 with 3291 views | carlisleaway | Getting a tad fed up with the over zealous security searches. Yesterday 71 year old grandad and a my young 10 year old grandson frisked because he had a blanket to keep him warm…..roll on a return to the Championship

Thoughts on Security on entering on 11:39 - Jan 20 with 2821 views | southnorfolkblue | Really surprised that they frisked a 10 year old. My lad is 17 and hasn't been frisked once this season. Personally I haven't had a problem with this, but I know it's been an issue for others

Thoughts on Security on entering on 11:50 - Jan 20 with 2722 views | bsw72 | I've not seen that at any game I have been to this season - only missed Man Utd and Bristol City. Have entered into the fanzone in almost every game and only seen a brief frisk/scan of certain people, generally males, late teens to 40s/50s. Never seen kids or those of a more senior age checked. My father (87) just gets waved through, but when I go in with my son (27), we have both been briefly frisked / scanned. I don't find it over zealous, and happy for security to do their job, and don't see it as a significant imposition.

Ahh, that explains why they asked my 15 year old how old he was when we were going through. I thought it was odd at the time.

I think the biggest issue is they’re not actually doing anything. It’s just a needless imposition that causes large queues and has a 0% chance of actually catching anything nefarious, not that the risk of that is sufficiently high in the first instance. The personnel are not sufficiently trained which is plainly obvious by their inability to operate their equipment and follow the generally established guidelines for security officers. It is entirely to satisfy some kind of box-ticking league requirement and to give the illusion of security. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Total smoke and mirrors isn't it, lots of full pockets being patted and then ignored. I asked the young lady waving her magic wand what it detects and was reliably informed, "suspicious stuff!"

It's pointless security theatre, summed up by how they scan nearly everyone in the queue, but skipped the oap in front of me who had a backpack, which they didn't even look at, who then got said backpack stuck in the turnstile. It just adds to the general queues getting in which creates overcrowding situations at the back of the stands, which would be prime targets.
Thoughts on Security on entering on 14:10 - Jan 20 with 1875 views | Scuzzer | Thursday night I had to empty all my pockets and then had a head to toe frisk. Been going to FPR since 1968 and never had that sort of treatment before, even during the 1970s football hooligan years. I just don't know what it's supposed to achieve....apart from pissing off old parts like me.

The wand didn't pick up my car keys, mobile phone or coins, so not sure what it will pick up!

My eldest is 17 and hasn’t. At away games they ask his age and when he says 17 they’ve just let him in.

Also, steward less electronic entry through turn style and no stewards when you got in either, ticket in the reader and in you go. But I went to Manchester for the WFA cup game and there was a full wand check, all metal out of pockets and pat down. But they did give everyone a free hot drink, down side was they only had chicken Balti or cheese and onion pie's for sale neither of which I like.
Thoughts on Security on entering on 14:33 - Jan 20 with 1784 views | Churchman | Went into the West stand entrance next to the Fanzone ones 50 mins before kick off. No queue. The security chap waved the wand around me and in I went. Experience this season has been that to long queues and having to get the keys, wallet, phone out. I’ve no idea what the policy is on this but entry into the ground, as has been said on another thread on this, is something easy for the club to improve.

I saw the security patting down legs and body (not just scanning) a child yesterday. He didn't look to be more than 12. My son was scanned going into West Stand. I followed and raised my arms for him and he smiled and waved me through with grandson (9). I got scanned on Thursday and asked what was in my pocket that set it off (keys). It all seems rather random

I got scanned by a ten year old child. Well that was a guesstimate of his age. His supervisor was saying "don't be shy, get in there and wave it about" That and the anti-vehicle bollards are safety measures so that in the event of a major terrorist incident the Prem and the clubs are squeaky clean. Less than five hundred yards from the ground and you'll not see any security. That's the way it goes when money talks!

It’s frowned upon, like masturbating on an aeroplane. (Name the film that line is from…)
