This actually has personal resonance for me because my grandmother’s maiden name was De Lappe, so all season long as Liam’s star has risen, my mother has been saying to me, “I wonder if he’s part of a separate branch of the family?”*
*For context, my mother is 78, still bright as a button and switched on. And if I didn’t have enough to be thankful to McKenna/Gamechanger ITFC for, it’s allowed things like: 1) Visiting.my folks in Cornwall on the opening weekend of the season, and us together with my wife going to my father’s drinking club to have lunch and see Town’s first game back in the top flight after 22 years together. 2) In November, they came up to stay a weekend with us because my wife was singing in a Remembrance Sunday concert. Afterwards, we went to the pub and checking our phones, were able to see that Town had gained their first win of the season at Spurs. You’ll all have your own memories of how that Sunday was celebrated, but to be able to toast it with my wife and parents, three months after seeing us lose to Liverpool on the opening day felt pretty special.
