That first Tuanzebe yellow card... 17:09 - Feb 15 with 7092 viewstractorboy1978

Has to be one of the worst decisions I have ever seen.

until the second yellow - totally agree with you - both very light touches

with the first one i din't see significant contact or a foul.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

Rashford and Rogers should both have been booked for blatant dives

Rashford fully jumped in the air to try and get a penalty.

That’s because there wasn’t. The replay and commentary team confirmed that he got the ball and was unlucky to be booked. The referee was far too hasty to brandish both yellow cards imo, yet seemingly too scared to book McGinn for multiple fouls in the first half.

So frustrating that we aren’t able to appeal yellow cards, even when two of them result in a red card, sending off and subsequent suspension.

Frustrating. Hopefully we'll appeal and get that wiped from his record if we can (not that it helps us today)

We can't, sadly. No mechanism to appeal yellows, and as a result no mechanism to appeal a red card awarded for two yellows.

Third red card this season, resulting from awful yellow card decisions which could not be appealed or VARd Arguably has costs us between 2 and 7 points.

there wasnt any before he very clearly stopped the ball. The villa playerthen fell over his still outstretched leg. I woukdnt say it was a free kick - but someone else will know what the rules are these days. Defo not a yellow for me.

That’s annoying, as it was an utterly bizarre decision. I wish the club would make a lot more of things like this. We’re nicely nice, but that doesn’t help us. Let’s put some pressure on officials, as others obviously do.

KMc called this one out in his post match interview, he wouldn't usually be quite as obviously critical of officials.

On the BBC website it mentioned that this was the 6th sending off in just 15 premier league games this season for the ref, which is the joint highest. Explains a lot.

Oh he made significant contact alright…

With the ball.

That ref yesterday was absolutely awful, a massive homer. Was gagging to give them decisions all game. A classic example of giving the big teams everything.

Seen it back. The first booking. He didn’t touch him. It was a disgrace. The second? The player went down in a light breeze. He dived. The ref was almost pulling his card out before the challenge was made.

I like the fact that we have a pretty honest bunch of players and I wouldn’t change that, but we’ve been mugged off a bit for it by cheating teams like Villa and refs who are either under instruction to favour certain teams or weak and told what to do by them.

It's a bad decision, but you have to remember the ref sees it once, from one angle, VAR can't interject on a yellow card.

If it's the worst decision you have ever seen then where do you rank the Chaplin non penalty v Leicester?

Yet that fat jock pr1ck in CM for them could run about being a thug, shouting at the ref, and seemingly be absolutely fine to do as he pleased.
I’ve no issue with refs being sht, but just be consistent

He sees it once from a position of being right on top of it. It wasn't even a small touch of the ball, he clearly wins it.

In terms of the on pitch decision, I have more sympathy with the ref for the Chaplin one. Could be deemed a coming together from his angle. It was poor from the VAR not to intervene.

The inconsistency is something else. Against Fulham, Lukic ran around kicking people all afternoon and the ref must have given 5 or 6 fouls against him, a couple of which were worthy of yellows in their own right, and he didn't even get booked. First half, we seemed to get a yellow almost every time we committed a foul against them.

That Fulham game was something else. How Lukic avoided a booking was remarkable.

The only explanation I can think of is that he had some compromising photos of the ref. Any other day, he wouldn't have stayed on the pitch let alone avoided a booking. At least that day the ref was just terrible all round rather than being hopelessly one-sided for the full 90 minutes. We got a fairly soft pen, David stayed on the pitch, and he failed to give them a stonewaller initially. But the Lukic thing was probably the most baffling of all.

I can kind of take that on board, but given the access to live video and replays the fourth official, or some other pratt, should be having a quiet word in his ear to say 'no yellow' or at least showing a bit of leniency later to balance the books.

Wasn’t it because the ref had been downgraded for sending an arsenal player off for a take 1for the team moment?
So let everything go?
