They have very long gardens, the pics are very deceptive but it was always going to happen there given the allocation. And impact on house value is not anything we can take into consideration

Can I suggest you look on Google Maps, some if not most of the rear gardens are not "long" most are either the same width as the old A12 up to twice or three times the width.

If they're calling it gigantic then it's a Giga shed not a Mega shed.
It's in the name.

Was wondering how long it would take for this post. The warehouses are set well back from the properties and behind an existing railway line. There is no right to a private view and property values are not material planning considerations. The site before was not lush Greenfields but a well used lorry park with an allocation in the local plan for many years for warehouses - well before several of these residents bought their houses.
Look at the significant economic investment in the area, job creation, utilisation of a brownfield dilapidated site - these are huge!

With your last two, what do you have against people who choose to volunteer to try and make their community a safer/better place?

Although this whole shaming people due to their job is a bit unfair.

Regardless of job, I have to say I think it's really ill advised to be coming on here and spouting off about something like this.

Well exactly, that's fair. It took me all of five minutes to find the planning application, and it's not the most professional look.

I agree. My dad was a Town and Country Planner and he tried to run over a Traffic Warden.

How do you reconcile that?

Planners just do a job within whatever the rules are at the time. Lots of politics involved - see the monstrosity of Brightwell Lakes and its cheap and nasty houses with no services.

Edit: I responded to the wrong post, hence the amend. Doh!

You misunderstand my point. It's not that they are giving away that they are a planner, but that they are coming on here and talking in pretty unsympathetic tone about a sensitive planning issue that they evidently processed.

Edit: Just seen your edit!

Your mum’s development probably wouldn’t have lined the pockets of some developers.

I’m in the process of trying to fight the council to stop them stripping the assets out of our village in order to prop up some developers. The deck is massively stacked against normal people and it’s sickening.

If you have proof of this please pass it on on and it will be reported.

What?!

This is horrific and feel for them. The only right thing to do here is pay them a few k and at least they have big gardens. Large nice fencing with some quick high growing bushes and at least they can have it all green and natural quite quickly. Not blocking all of it but an improvement. Can only imagine how devastating.

Football - not sure why you have to take something so obviously awful and just make it about "well it was allowed so it was done". Zero empathy. Poor.

I presume you are aware of planning considerations and issues?

Did the buildings need planning permission?

Were the home owners aware of the proposals and allowed to give representations?

If so, on what grounds did they object?

Yes they did. The site has beeb allocated for large shed since pre 2010 so it was always known the site would be developed in this way

I’m sure it will be taken just as seriously as the many objections from residents and results of consultations are.

In my case it’s a village in Cambridgeshire and isn’t a secret as it was reported in the press. But the GCP’s hegemony trumps all.

You have had some unfair stick in this thread. You can only do your job within the rules.

As part of planning permission it should be law that they have to plant trees high enough to block the building from sight. That wouldn't solve the light issue but it would at least help not to feel like they're in prison.

Truly impaired.
