He's going to run rings around Championship defences next year even more than before.

Then hopefully be more prepared for PL round 2 in 2026/27.

Unlucky not to score form that lob today.

Omari is going to be a helluva lot harder to hold onto for next season than many people realise...

I agree. I think he goes a long with Delap. Concern would be I'm not sure we get much profit from him this year. But imagine we will need to sell 3 of our better assets. Delap, Davis and Delap would be the primary contenders though of all of them Davis has probably struggled a bit more.

Philogene is looking very lively. Almost as though he isn't rubbish, as a lot of our support has decided, but that settling into a team that is struggling badly is really difficult......

And he's playing on the left which is his best position.

Out of interest why would we have to sell next season? We will have 55% of PL money coming in, I would imagine that the contracts have a relegation clause in them.

Delap we will get a big offer for, which will be hard to refuse for both him and the club, but I’m not convinced we will get many more other big bids in from PL sides for players, and without financial pressure to sell I’m not sure we would let players go for less than we paid for them.

Apart from Delap none of our young players are knocking on the door of the full England squad, so another season in the Champ will probably not do them any harm from a career perspective.

Davis may go- but who in the PL will he be a nailed on starter, same for the others. I may get proven wrong but I only think Delap will be in significant demand.

Class act who will be electric for us in the champ. If we keep Omari and have Philogene, Omari, Clarke it will be really exciting times. And they will all progress ready for the prem again!

I think most accept a lot of teams will be keen to take him, but they will have to over pay (like I think we did) which does make me wonder how likely it is.

Yeah if we can keep those 3 we’re laughing. To be honest even 2 of them would be nice, with Burns / Chaplin / Broadhead / Szmodics. But 3 would be delicious.

Surely Ham, competent left back that he is, is too old to play in this game?

We spent very heavily and a long way toward our max (it's impossible to know how close to the limit we got or slightly over or under). Whether we 'have' to sell is arguable but we will. Delap rightly will push for a move as he will have big options and offers. I certainly agree we won't be selling for less.

History tells you very clearly that teams coming down will need to sell.

It's not just to balance the books. We will have a new striker and most likely 2x CM and that will be costly to re-build.

Given what we've spent commercially we will want to make money on the more valuable players. We will still be very very strong.

Surely if others will have to “overpay” to purchase a player for which we have “overpaid”, that would suggest the market is working rather well, or that maybe we didn’t “overpay” in the first place?

We paid £22m for him, so it will need to be £30m plus - and when you look at the market then that's a pretty normal fee for someone so young with a season of PL football under his belt
