They were just portakabins for us in SE Essex.
EDIT: Note we also had huts which were pre-fab building constructed in the 1950s, but differed from the temporary and supposedly portable classrooms added in the late 70s and early 80s. [Post edited 23 Jul 21:24]

Both primary and secondary had them and for some reason I thought they called them different things … in my head there was a T name which now looks like it could have been terrapin on checking…! Pretty sure they were called mobiles though …. Suffolk both schools left primary in ‘83 for secondary. |  |

None of the schools I went to (50s/60s) had any temporary class rooms. We just had larger classes.
There were plenty of pre-fabs used for housing in the village.
