I think the plan is to only sign people who can make the step up to the Premier League (plus a few non-playing backups e.g. Button)

I wouldn't at £4m and 30 grand a week!

No. Not a step forward for us.

I wouldn't. Forever grateful for his contribution in 2023/24 but he's not a great fit for how we prefer to play and he's an expensive option. Spend the money on someone with potential.

Not for that money I wouldn't. If we were talking about as a free transfer as back up to Hirst and one other, then fine. But he wouldn't be happy with that either.

I would happily have him back if it was in addition to Hirst and a new striker which is probably unrealistic

No chance.

Will forever grateful for the few goals he scored in 2024 when Hirst was injured, but other than that did nothing in either spell to suggest he’s a long term option.

Can’t run, pass or finish, and for a bloke that’s 7 foot tall is poor in the air and is beaten too easily.
His first touch is like a trampoline, so his second touch is a tackle. Not helpful if we want him to hold the ball up.

How do we play?

SS won’t fit into the system, Moore won’t…. Jeez, you’re a tough cookie to please!

RIP Sir Bobby

That's a bit unfair. His finishing, for example, is generally pretty clinical.

I don't think he's what we need now either, but I'd have to say that apart from the "can't run" bit, that's a load of bollox! No offence.

What planet are you on ? He maybe not the answer now but he certainly did a decent job when we needed him.

Scored some vital goals we’ll always be grateful for. I said that.

Szmodics fits in fine as one of the 10s, but he's not a number 9. Moore isn't mobile enough for what we want from a number 9 either. He did a job for us but we were much better when Hirst could play.

As soon as Hirst returned for the last few games in the promotion season, we were much more mobile and fluid up front.

We should acknowledge that, even though he wasn’t the answer then or now. The difference when Hirst came back in for his first game after his injury was chalk and cheese. We looked like ourselves again. Kiefer played an important role when we he was needed. Hats off, etc. But if we go back there again we’ve utterly failed in the transfer market.

Yes his first touch was dreadful at times. Not mobile enough for us either. No coincidence the minute Hirst was fit he was back starting.

Moore helped us out when we were really stuck but would be a big step backwards if we were to sign him.

Arguably got us over the line in 23/24, certainly helped but agree shouldn’t be back in for him.

Remember he came in late in January, fitted in straight away, scored goals and was a very good performer for us. Sure overall Hirst suits our style better but I think you're doing him a massive disservice with your comments here.
