Omari to Brentford 21:21 - Jul 29 with 9636 viewsportmanking

Deal off. Magnificent news all round. Especially if we get Hackney. Full of excellent young English talent.

Still worry that Forest may come in for Omari but it seems like KMac has worked his magic.

He's staying...I'm confident on this and have always been.
Brentford was not a good choice
Staying is, especially with Hayden - we have hell of a team.

Riping up the Championship is better than floundering with Brentford who will be battered

I just don’t see Palace paying £40m for him. It’s not how they generally do business.

I don't either, don't think they're interested at all. Am more hopeful he stays, seems to have forged a good relationship with Ashley Young on and off the field.

There's definitely a universe where we go into the season with both Hutch and Hackney in the side, I'm just hoping it's this one

The books are pretty balanced I believe given the parachute payments.

I was under the impression we didn't need to sell Omari unless you can provide evidence to the contrary?

SB

It fascinates me you want evidence. Where’s your evidence the books are balanced?

Wanting things to be true isn’t vidence.

We sold Delap through 24/25
Our owners explicitly say there will be £100 million sales.
Most of our £150 million spend last year is amortised through the next four years
Our base case won’t be promotion
Our wage bill alone is over 100% our entire revenue without parachute payments… which will be our base case financially.

So whatever KM and Omari do or don’t want, he will be sold… there’s a £20 million liability at the start of EFL seasons in the future that Gamechanger don’t want to fund, they’ve made that very clear …. They couldn’t spell it out any clearer.

Of course if we win promotion, £150 million V’s £5 million in TV revenue alone is very different.

But after all last summers promises, it’s clear promotion isn’t the financial base case for gamechanger, and that’s sensible.

Amazing the owners have put their position on record, in the simple language possible, and here we are…. Blinded by the emotion.

Would be great if he stayed, we won promotion and the finances take care of themselves, but we aren’t in that position…. We need financial clarity, and £35 million does that.

We don’t need to sell….. we really DO.

Go and study accounts… no offence but this is basic.

Delap through 24/25 was a choice… it’s the only way we could meet our compliance, otherwise through 25/26 gives us more leverage for a year longer too.

You don’t need to see the accounts.

You just need to understand the basics.

Omari was gone the second that Delap deal was pulled forward… lower our liabilities, give us scope for signings spread over longer, and mitigate PSR.

This is why your crap about relegation being progress was just plain wrong.

We lose our best young players.

If you can publish why you think our finances don’t require player sales, that would be great… send them to Brett too… because he seems confused.

Sorry, you lost me at the point at which you treated the leaked 'sales pitch' as gospel, especially given that it actually said "Up to £100m+ in player sales...".

I think you’ve misunderstood the £100m sales figure as a potential not a fact. That leak was something designed to drum up investment, not a statement of intent.

Everyone I’ve heard talk about the finances who seem to have an interest in it, thinks we are in a very healthy position. Given we seem to want a money ball system, I’m guessing we sell high to offset and finance squad building for the next promotion.

"Go and study accounts". Cringe.

FWIW, as a chartered accountant I wouldn't recommend anyone devotes 4 years to studying if their objective is to decipher the platitudinal bobbins you've written there. It won't help in the slightest.

Haha! I was thinking more about the difficult last eighteen months.

Maybe he finally took Ashley's advice this Summer, eh? ;-)

Except Rashford's head wasn't turned to join Man Utd. He was already there and has only had complimentary things to say about the club despite clearly being treated badly there. His head has been turned to join Barcelona but who can blame him? Who would suggest that he shoudn't do so, especially since things were clearly at an end at Man Utd until they sack Amorim?

Aside from that, the advice from Ashley Young may well have been about right. If Omari listens to good advice, he will go on to have a great career one would expect.
