Yeah it is real life and we have to get this season right, it's our best chance of bouncing straight back. Darragh o'shea had interest from premier League clubs but committed himself to a club he wants to be at because he believes in it. HH could well be 100% genuine and ready to pen the deal but all the stuff being spouted about online makes it come across like we are a last resort that isn't really what he wants and if that is the case questions should be asked as to if he is right for us. FWIW I rate this guy highly and would love to see him in our shirt, but for the right reasons.

"all the stuff being spouted about online makes it come across like..."

It's all online guff. Addictive hysteria. Craving for 24/7 information and immediate resolution.

It's exhausting, innit? Agree with you he'd be a fantastic signing but the "right reasons" will be for his (and importantly, right or wrong, his team's) careers/jobs/whatever.

Give over on the romantic guff.

Very few players sign for a club these days because they want to be there. The vast majority will sign a contract because it's the best that they can get at that point in time.

HH could turn down megabucks at Spurs, sign for us, and go full on Ulrich Le Pen against Brum next Friday. It's a short and perilous career, and the player needs to make sure that they're putting their long-term security first, especially as any contract could end up being the last one they ever sign.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

There's nothing to turn down , as it stands, at least as far as we know he only has One offer, ours.

But he's doing precisely the right thing for him and his family by having his agent give the tree a bloody good shake before committing to a potentially-lesser deal than he feels might be out there.

He is just plain stalling and we keep hanging on by a thread. If he goes elsewhere this place will go into meltdown.

And that's why I started with "He's fully entitled to" It doesn't mean I have to like it.

Yes that's fine and no issue with you being frustrated by it. I was just saying he's not taking the piss as per the comment. He's weighing up his options as it's his career and life. And to be fair he's seemingly not doing nothing. He's having the conversations with us now fee agreed etc and it moving forward.

I had a peek in the window using one of the satellites I occasionally take control of, and it looked very like a strangely familiar, moustachioed Dutchman carrying a bundle of what can only be described as...

Would surprise me if Spurs were in for him.

What about Everton Phil. Perhaps a more likely destination

It could be, but by the same token an idea might be to move somewhere where you think it might best benefit your long term career. The money will follow you if you are any good and have any confidence in your ability. Why? Because the same rules apply in the non football work. Maybe that’s just misguided me for who it was always career and happiness first, £££ second. Work hard £ follows.

The alternative? Do a T Simpson, take the money from Huddersfield, smile and kiss the badge and watch your career slip down the pan. If HH is up for the highest bidder and is happy in the stiffs and peddled out on loan and all that jazz, great. Good luck to him and his agent.

Best we let him know we’ve moved on, good luck. Sorry, I only want people at my club who want to be here. Hutchinson, Woolfy, this bloke, I don’t care. Want to be here and achieve, great. If not toodloo. It’s that simple.

This transfer has all the makings of a crashing blow for fans. Personally trying to temper my expectations.

I thought exactly the same.

1hr before Hackney boards his flight to Stansted, let's see if we can ruffle any last-ditch feathers.

Potentially for sure!

Not helped by a slightly slow summer and a few notable exits.

The club will know they it would be a tough one to pull off and seems like they are close but if it does not happen hopefully we have a back up plan to execute. and fast!

THis Tottenham Rumours sounds made up. I appreciate they were 17th last season but they've got a load of midfield players who would be ahead of him. The report says he wants assurances of game time......No chance at Totenham.

This guy seems like its one we've really wanted, but have had to wait until now to put a bid in as no "better" teams have. Its got to be done soon or we move on.

I don't buy into the Spurs stuff at all but there are at least 2 other PL clubs that would not surprise me. Pointless speculating and refreshing twitter

Given hope?

They could easily blow us out of the water. If they want him, they get him so this seems like BS.

We're so massive that when they heard we'd put a bid in, their immediate reaction was one of despair and hopelessness.

Been said many times before but Sam Morsy didn't really want to be here when he signed.

And which manager signed him, because "def info" it wasn't McKenna was it?

No it was wrecking ball Paul Cook who'd worked with Sam before, and was why Sam signed because he trusted Paul's judgement, he didn't want to drop to league 1 or join the uncertainty of a club still in a state of flux, but Paul sold him the deal.

So how does that apply to McKennas stated position of only wanting players who buy into the club and the vision we have.

Off the top of my head:

Philogene rejected us initially for Villa
Hirst rejected us initially for Blackburn

Didn't stop McKenna wanting them.

Players that are above our level are not just going to sign for us because they've always dreamed of playing for Ipswich. They are going to assess all their options. It doesn't mean if they do sign in the end that they are any less invested once they get here.
