I am not entirely sure why people say this about British players moving just a few hundred miles between cities easily traversable by train or car on journeys people do daily, and not so much about international players who travel far further and have added language or cultural issues.

SOmehow people often (not necessarily yourself) think international youngsters can just do this whereas it's somehow complicated or difficult for young British men to do it (while we know that thousands of 18 year olds a year travel all over the country for university each September and they aren't treated as some kind of anomaly or having special skills)

I just think it's weird. Middlesbrough is pretty close to Suffolk all things considered, and 23 is not a very young age.

Its a big move for them as well. The Mexican lad we were linked with recently, the same was said of him. Its a big decision career wise but its also a big life decision and not one he'll be taking lightly. Its pretty well documented that certain clubs perceive themselves to be less desirable locations to get players to, especially young ones. I'm sure Burley lamented missing out on Jensen to Charlton because he favoured London. Its nothing new, location can often play a big part in decision making. I dare say Wrexham might be desirable to Broadhead for such reasons.

Off-topic, but it’s only relatively recently that I learnt that Middlesbrough was in North Yorkshire. I associate the place with either County Durham or Tune and Wear.

Historically it was as N Yorks went up to the Tees, but not been in the county since the reorganisation of local government in 1968. I don't think many locals would think of it as being in Yorkshire.

I’m fully onboard for any player taking some time to examine their options, it’s a short career after all and they need to make the most of it for themselves and their families.

Having said that there surely needs to be a decision made by Town as to how much longer they pursue this deal? It would be a real coup for the club to get it over the line but if it’s not going to happen we need to move on.

The danger here is Hackney keeps us hanging until the last minute and then decides against the move.

I think my family would have been happy anywhere if I was on 35k a week in my early 20s...

Has a transfer ever driven TWTD more nuts? Hard to say.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!
Poll: With Evans taking 65% in Huddersfield, is the Banter Era over?

Are you sure he’s ITK?

Posted early this afternoon.

Expect Brittain to be unveiled tomorrow. [deal agreed confirmed this morning so, obviously]

Also Ipswich still waiting on HH to make a decision. [we’ve not announced yet so, No sheet]

Maybe Philogene?

I think that's clear as we would have heard one way or another if he had!

Get Ed on the phone to him!

In all seriousness, our USP is he’ll be pretty much guaranteed a starting place in team every match (as opposed to keeping a Prem bench warm), you’d think we’d have a good chance of Promotion so this time next year he’s a key player in Prem team! We can insert a clause that if we don’t go up a trigger of say £25 million could be activated by a Prem club to release him?

Good shout.
I remember so many people going bunkers about Bullard signing on a perm to the point one infamous poster here said he would let Bullard have a go on his wife if he signed perm

Quite. If he was down yesterday and ready to complete, we’d have had the official reveal by now. I guess he’s still looking for PL options and has got us as a backup.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

That may account for why he had zero energy then.

It definitely is in North Yorkshire. Which Council it is under is irrelevant to the county, if it was, then York wouldn't be in North Yorkshire either as that is not under North Yorkshire Council.

I can't see us letting it go on much further than the start of next week. If he's not agreed to join us by then, I suspect we'll move on. Boro will similarly want a decision from him soon.

It's getting boring now !

Well as the saying goes "that aged well" considering how Bullard fared post signing.

What will be will be, so many smoke and mirrors these days, its just easier to relax and see what happens.

Yes, I think you're right.

Getting a bit cheesed off with all this " let's be so understanding as it's such a major decision " cr@p. We've been on his radar for a long while.... not just a week or so. He s a footballer - their lives can change overnight. On deadline day, footballers' lives can change just with a phone call and a mad dash for a medical. This is like an eternity as a comparison.
He's put if out there he wants a PL move and he's hanging on aslong as possible for that to happen. We're just hoping that doesn't happen. We're down the pecking order - accept it. Can we stop writing a script where a poor, nervous, undecided young man is struggling to make a life-changing decision away from his mum and dad.
If if happens, it happens... but I hope if our club feels we're being messed around too long, they'll pull the plug and move on.

Agreed, it is taking far too long and he needs to make his mind up. where ever he ends up going it is going to involve moving away from his home town comforts. The way people are talking it's like Ipswich is some far flung place that takes days to reach.

It doesn't look like there is any serious PL interest so as it stands we are his best offer. If it's not right for him he needs to let us know he is staying at Boro so we can move on to other targets.
