Hackney has rejected Ipswich on 14:33 - Aug 2 by franz_tyson | Could have been worse.... this could have rumbled on for a few more weeks. We can move on now. If he was that good.... he'd have been snapped up already by a PL club. And I'm also thinking of a few Town fans who were concerned about the welfare of a 23 year old professional footballer leaving the area where he was born and brought up to come to this Suffolk hellhole. Touching and they'll at least be relieved. |
No chance it would have done, once the deal was agreed there would have been a deadline. I’m sure the Boro fans will love him for it but really sure he’s done them much of a a favor really.

Hackney has rejected Ipswich on 14:23 - Aug 2 by berkstractorboy | I think we could give Brownhill a signing on fee and match wages at Burnley and still be cheaper than Hackney. It’s his loss to risk a PL not coming in, Boro can’t invest in some other players they wanted as needed the sale and be coached by Edwards. Hope it all works out well for him. |
Surely we should have bigger ambitions than this? Should try to hijack the Morton deal with Lyon if we can, since I don't think it has been agreed yet. Club will have kept other options open anyway, there's no way all the eggs were in one basket.
Hackney has rejected Ipswich on 14:42 - Aug 2 with 1721 views | chantryblueboy | Still pretty confident he will be here by the end of the window and is trying to see if anything better comes along

I think most will care if we are being honest, Hackney had a ridiculously high ceiling, was younger and would have been extremely exciting under McKenna either the 4 playing in front of him. If Cajuste gets finalized we will still need one or two more in there. I don’t really want Jack Taylor as his back up but guess that might have to be the case.

Cajuste was our best player often in the Premier league, knows mckennas tactics and has played with Matusiwa before. Obviously signing Hackney too would be great, but there's plenty more central midfield options in the world. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

He really wasn’t. He was a part of a midfield that disappeared virtually every game. One goal, one assist. Not just his fault, but he was undeniably part of it. Where I totally agree is that there are other players out there, plenty possibly better than this bloke Hackney, who I’d never heard of until the rumours started.

I love Cajuste just don’t see him playing the same minutes in the champ as Hackney would and I don’t love our options on the bench in that role.

Hackney has rejected Ipswich on 14:26 - Aug 2 by FrimleyBlue | It was planned tho so was always just to hold talks. There's still potential of a medical next week. End of day he's a boro player. We start the season next week they'll want him fit and so would we so makes sense he's involved. |
The Northern Echo has literally confirmed him turning us down. It's over.

Hackney has rejected Ipswich on 14:37 - Aug 2 by FrimleyBlue | Formal talks with Luke werhun. Meet and great. Ground and town tour etc. It may all be over. But it may not be as he was only ever scheduled to be down here for the day. There's been no info about anything being agreed other than the boro fee. The only known info after that was that was with the club Thursday. Anything else is guess work. |

Totally with you on that. Our midfield got overran pretty much every game. So why when we have only 2 CMs does one of them get a free pass on that and gets deemed to be one of our best players? Lovely, silky skills and a lovely turn and stride forward.... but I'm struggling to see what else he offers. Is he one of those players who looks a million dollars yet has no real end product? I'd worry about him being a starting midfielder. No problem him being a bench option instead of Taylor. We need a decent starting CM apart from Cajuste who can do the physical stuff and last a 46 game season.

Hackney has rejected Ipswich on 14:31 - Aug 2 by Nutkins_Return | Not in doubt. Great signing but he is not going to be doing a 46 game season. Gutted about Hackney I have to say because that seemed like a brilliant signing. Hopefully we can get Tyler Morten or another as close to Hackney quality as possible. |
Morton has moved to Lyon.

The old phrase was ‘show pony’ for a player like him. It may be that the Premier League was just too tough for him and he’ll tear up the Championship, should he come here. But I would not like to rely on that or him, given his physical fragility. We are short in midfield in addition to a back up for Hirst, a replacement for disgruntled Woolfenden and possibly for Hutchinson who is surely on his way out before the end of the month, sadly. Lots of work to do, but still nearly a month of the window to go. Shame the season starts next week as if there’s too much change we are back to the early season bedding in nonsense of Cooks time and last season.

Hackney has rejected Ipswich on 15:18 - Aug 2 with 800 views | Nthsuffolkblue | It's his perogative. Morsy was prepared to drop down a level to progress with us. He clearly doesn't share Morsy's determination/application and is willing to rick the hope that a lower Premier team will come in for him. Good luck to him at Boro in the season ahead. I suspect he might be more amenable in January if we are still interested and he hasn't gone anywhere and isn't injured. Let's hope whoever we get in be it Cajuste, someone else or playing Humphreys is up to it. I am confident Humphreys will step up eventually but I think this season might be too soon to be a regular. Then again, if he doesn't get the chance we will never know.

I think Humphreys might well be good enough from what I saw of him at Wycombe. He was far too good for League One so why can’t he step up? Deserves a chance anyway.
