Al Hamadi 18:51 - Aug 2 with 2225 views | Nutkins_Return | Made a massive case to stay. That was a brilliant finish to cap a very decent pre-season for him. That goal is against very decent opposition as well. I'm more than happy with Hirst, +1 new (Azon) and Al Hamadi. (Of course if there is someone top class we can get as well then fair enough. Toulouse will need to stump up a few mil in that case! *EDITED BRAIN FART MENTIONING Delap haha [Post edited 2 Aug 18:57]

Again to his eternal credit there is no sulk, no accepting he needs to move. He's just knuckled down, worked hard on his game and fitness and scored 3 goals off the bench which is basically exactly what we need from him. Can't fault his application and he's like you say young and only going to get better. I don't think he's Prem but who knows and he can do a job for sure for us. Kone is ok but I'm still not convinced he is an upgrade on Al Hamadi.

Donāt read too much on pre season though. I remember some getting carried away over Harness this time last year for his performances in nothing games. Iām glad heās had a decent summer but obviously much more important roles to worry about than 3rd choice striker. [Post edited 2 Aug 19:10]

Al Hamadi on 19:17 - Aug 2 with 1427 views | Bellevue_Blue | Certainly made an impression, I'm just not sure it's any use to the club to have him 3rd choice and ultimately out of squads. If we ever want to make any money back on the £1M investment we need him to be playing and scoring goals. You also can't underestimate the quality of others striker options. Southampton have Stewart, Downes, Archer, Diaz & Armstrong who can all play 9. That's £40M + of striker there. We need to be working hard to improve it, be that Azon or Azon and another IMO.

He was injured when he joined us wasn't he? I'd be happy with him as one of 2 backups for Hirst

That a very good point considering our fans have been writing him off (to put it mildly). Edit. Just to add, that included me. Iām not trying to claim any moral high ground. Heās looked L1 level at best to me for the last 2 years, was poor at Stoke as well. But was also struggling with injuries. [Post edited 2 Aug 19:39]

In don't think he was deemed poor at Stoke to my knowledge, I believe they quite liked him.

What got my goat about AAH being written off was it was on the strength of 125 minutes of Premier League football. No one was so against him before that, everyone assumed he would go out on loan to a championship club to continue his development, best thing for him. But then of course we missed out on our striker targets and then Hirst got injured so, AAH had to stick around as cover for Delap. Huge step up for a player in League two less than a year before. But no we hammered him, some on here to the point of it being borderline abuse by some. Iām glad he looks so good, only question is which one of our players is next for the pile on.

Some did, but thatās fans for you and theyāve been starved of any quality there for a while. He didnāt exactly tear it up. He was a 1 in 2 man at Wimbledon and thereās a hope (expectation) that he can get back to that sort of level. Heās only a Gail scorer, so will be judged on goals. So far itās not happening. He is still relatively young and is working hard though, so you can ask any more.

Problem for al is he's a different player to hirst and to delap Delap had power. He had pace he had an incredible shooting ability Hirst is smart. He presses intelligently. He's getting better and better each game. He brings others around him into the game Al. He's a striker. But I'm not quite sure what sort of striker. Maybe a lesser version of a chelseas Jackson or an isak? I can't quite describe him.

Al Hamadi on 21:40 - Aug 2 with 725 views | RIPbobby | His touch to beat the defender is high end championship level. I am still surprised that people keep giving him stick. He looks as fit as he has in his entire time here today. He will be a big plus for us. Mark my words.
Al Hamadi on 21:44 - Aug 2 with 702 views | vilanovablue | Probably his best game for us. If he's shaken off his injuries I am more than happy to have him third choice. His goal today was superb and a proper finish.

He managed a goal every 70 minutes for us in 2023/24.

Al Hamadi on 21:51 - Aug 2 with 630 views | King_of_Portman_Rd | In my simple mind. I think weād struggle to find a better 3rd choice striker given the costs involved in signing strikers. Kone valued at Ā£5m for example. AAH joined us injured, contributed (in this division) with some valuable contributions from the bench. Had his surgery, then played last 5 or 10 minutes against the likes of Liverpool and Citeh (matches were over and we barely touched the ball) and impossible task to get āmatch fitā after an injury having been playing L2 just 12 months earlier. The lad may never play above championship, but thereās enough there to suggest heās worth keeping around for another year at least as trying to replace would be both expensive and a risk

Been saying all of this for some time now... People love to have a firm, seemingly knowledgeable, opinion without proper basis.
Al Hamadi on 23:34 - Aug 2 with 315 views | CaptainAhab | He looked a different beast today, a few kg heavier maybe, which suited him. Ice cold for the finish too. He definitely deserves a chance.

It wasnāt borderline. It was from one or two straight abuse. In one case calling him sht. Thatās abuse. He was, after Muric, next on the list for the treatment, followed by J Clarke who was then superseded by Philogene. AAH was hammered and will continue to be so by the haters. Like Muric we should give him a chance of a fresh start elsewhere for the sake of his career. For the record, he was liked at Stoke and certainly didnāt get the thumbs down he got here. I have always thought him promising. He has something about him and can see why he was signed, despite the injuries. Great character too. One of the dismals on here even mocked his tap ins in the championship but entirely missed the point that you have to be there for tap ins.
Al Hamadi on 00:12 - Aug 3 with 145 views | pointofblue | I had no issues with Al Hamidi being our third choice striker before today and still don't. He's probably the best third choice we can get.
