Ajax now rumoured not to be sanctioning an Akpom loan deal 19:11 - Aug 5 with 10444 views | Zonderman | If true that’s pretty poor form. I get where they are coming from as apparently they need some cash but not a great way of conducting business all the same.

Ajax now rumoured not to be sanctioning an Akpom loan deal on 19:36 - Aug 5 by homer_123 | Interesting. If it went back on the market with no other offer available having agreed to sell to you, yes, poor form. If a better offer came in and the seller chose the better offer, then no. |
But you also wouldn’t agree to rent a house for a year and be obligated to buy after a year as long as you kept your job or some other condition. You either buy or don’t buy. I agree with Ajax albeit painful as I’m obvs an Ipswich fan!

This is what I don’t get, if we really want him, just pay it. It also then frees up a loan spot, which might come in handy given our injuries at the minute.

A world where everything is now done in public, and fans that just don’t get that it was always like this - just mostly behind closed doors in the past.

Hence football is very different to the "real world" so difficult to make comparisons between the two.

"just about very transfer deal this summer for us has turned into a fiasco" Assume you mean 'every'? Apart from Button, Kipre, Azor and Young? They weren't fiasco's were they? [Post edited 5 Aug 20:13]

It may well play out like that, but since it might not suit us or Akpom, it will likely be the nuclear option when all other options are exhausted.

Could be argued because no one else wanted them. *Ducks for cover*

Ajax now rumoured not to be sanctioning an Akpom loan deal on 20:27 - Aug 5 with 1929 views | tetchris | He’s allegedly on £80k a week at Ajax. I doubt Brum can afford that sort of wage on a permanent deal plus signing on fee etc and I doubt town would pay that either. The loan deal involved Brum agreeing to pay 60% of his wages and town agreed the same loan deal.

Ajax may pay off some of the difference in his contract to get him to leave permanently.

We're trying to sign better players than the likes of Ollie Hawkins nowadays?
Ajax now rumoured not to be sanctioning an Akpom loan deal on 20:51 - Aug 5 with 1498 views | radiogaga | Given how south relationships between him and Ajax would appear to have gone in recent months, I doubt Akpom will care hugely what Ajax prefer. He has no reason to go to Birmingham now unless Birmingham offer better money than Ajax, otherwise he can potentially turn the tables back on them and refuse to play/ keep taking his wage from them so there are two sides to this. Ajax, however, completely entitled to do what they are doing. It is a no brainer from a financial angle. Cannot blame them. They are playing this situation very well. [Post edited 5 Aug 20:54]

Ajax now rumoured not to be sanctioning an Akpom loan deal on 19:20 - Aug 5 by pointofblue | Legally they're well within they're rights. Morally - for want of better word - it stinks. |
It’s business and whilst there can and often are morals in business this is football. The business of football isn’t exactly the most moral full stop. Exploitation of fans, dodgy underhand deals aplenty and very few sh!ts given.

Does this mean still on track for the loan deal as before? Or just that Akpom is coming here, but could be perm?

....after the German striker before they were even linked with Chubs. Their fans were certainly chatting about him a while back, so not sure if they were after both. Maybe. I was making the point earlier that he was obviously happy to join Birmingham before we nipped in, my understanding was that he was basically on his way there. Do you think we will have to rejig our offer? Or just sit tight and hope for the best?

Put in an offer for the German lad. Properly stir the pot.

I'd no intention of watching their silly little show, but I'll be tempted if Ashton becomes a bizarre Machiavelli-David Brent hybrid, the evil villain pulling the strings and thwarting the American Rugby legend and his dream.

He’s most definitely not on £80k a week. For one Ajax don’t really operate on the financial structure, and the Eredevise doesn’t really generate that level of income to be paying that sort of money. Their highest earner is reportedly Brian Brobbey returning from Leipzig, but even he’s apparently on less than £50k a week.
