credit to Brum they were very good, but my god we were poor, no-one really came out of that game with any credit. Yes some you can make excuses for, i.e. Ogbene, Szmodics back from long term injuries and Matusiwa making his debut in English football but the likes of Jack Clarke, Ben Johnson and Jack Taylor really need to have a think about that, they were dreadful. I thought we’d lose tonight mainly because early season is a great leveller they’ve lots of confidence and we are still licking our wounds. I’ll take the point and hopefully this is the little nudge to get momentum going. The Champ is so tight that Brum have it in them to be up there. What I question is when they don’t get things their own way and say go a few winless games how will Wagner handle it and as you say Davies too.

Our right hand side was absolute dross. Ogbene clearly miles off being fully fit and Johnson just isn’t a very good footballer. | | | |

They really weren't. It was their big night out and they huffed and puffed and were niggly but TBH if that's the top of their game, they're in for a mid-table finish.
We were poor but improved, they got worse as the game went on.

It was a battle that was hard fought and neither side created much. A point away at Brum especially on opening day is a decent result. We only really got going once they were ahead and we were able to finish stronger than them.
I think Clarke needs to play on the right which leaves Ogbene as a finisher unless he can play left. Dreadful is an exageration. |  |

I’ve always held the view that at the start of the season you want to avoid the promoted teams and play the relegated ones. The promoted teams usually overachieve for the first third or so of the season and the relegated ones tend to underachieve. Today’s matchup was probably perfect for Birmingham and one we would much rather have had later in the season. [Post edited 8 Aug 23:20]
