McKenna had his arm round him last night at full time and it looked liked a tough but compassionate conversation.

I feel for Ali as he’s been asked to do a tough job he’s not equipped for, but I’ve never seen him down tools or give anything less than full effort.

Feel like that gets overlooked far too often with players like that in our rise.

Well, he isn’t up to the job. We still need 2 strikers then? I don’t really see Akpom as doing a Hirst type job for us.

Akpom can certainly do the holding forward role. Al-Hamadi needs to drop a league and he will be just fine. If he goes, then he leaves with my warmest of wishes.

Can’t fault his effort, he was running for 95 minutes last night. Sadly for him I don’t think he’s good enough for where we are.

Wish him well, more so than others who have decided to just stop showing up completely.

Not sure that's the case yet, but may well be once others come through the door. Luton were interested but think they've moved on having signed Jerry Yates. Toulouse was looking the most likely destination for him if and when that point is reached.

I just don’t see Akpom as the one up top on his own. It’s just not his style. We keep trying to fit square pegs in round holes. See also Clarke, Sammy S, Philogene, Taylor. We get these players in then ask them to play roles that just don’t suit their attributes.

His performance last night wasn’t anywhere good enough. That said he tried his best and gave everything for the team.

The reality is we should never have started the season with him as our second choice striker. The club have to take responsibility for that. Remarkable we hadn’t signed someone better by that point. It’s not AAH fault. Hopefully he gets a move - League One is about right.

It's deafeningly quiet on the rumour front. I'm surprised that given the known gaps in our squad and the parachute money that agents aren't linking us with loads of players even if we have no interest.

I do feel for him, and I do like him but he’s just not the high quality we need is he? A great character, tries his hardest but just not quite good enough unfortunately.

He will most definitely leave if we get another in and I really hope he does well wherever he goes.

He can play any of the front 4 roles. I would prefer him on the right or left, but he can hold a ball as well as Hirst.

Yes, I suspect a load of names will start getting thrown into the mix the nearer we get to the window's closure.

Free? I bet we’ll have to pay them to take him! Badum tish.

Best all round I think. He meeds to drop a level or two and see if he can re-find his mojo.

So pleased you know Akpom better than McKenna. Please can you let him know your intel on him. Thanks, it could save our season.

Not sure what’s going on.., he looked sharper, more mobile, and more of a threat when he was playing with his injury.

Maybe not fit still, but he had a good few minutes for Stoke so can’t understand why, with a full pre season, he’s regressed.

We have a few peddling backwards.., not sure what we’re doing with them …, thought he looked a potential prospect in the early days.., but doesn’t even look like he can run the channels with energy, which he used to do very well.

There are some issues to address in how we develop players.., get a feeling the legacy group were VERY good at developing and motivating themselves, and we need the gaffer to show real leadership this last 18 months.., bring some external influence to motivating themselves group, and he looks a bit lost on those qualities.

I think I mentioned last night - there are levels to football, as we actually found ourselves collectively last year, and currently, he just isn’t at the level we need.

I would want nothing more than Ali to head out, to a top end L1 side and score a bundle of goals, still so young, and can have a fantastic career.

Seems such a good guy, a genuine one, who by all accounts works incredibly hard. Not one who needs to be blasted by the fan base at all, would wish him all the very best.

They are but mckenna will only bring in a specific player ..that speaks English ..will be a good listener and no ego and light weight.....yes this is what is costing us ..mckenna has been a good manager, he got us up in two successful promotions..but I personally don't think he's up to taking us back again and keep us there ..unless we have 20 points by ten games.. .or thereabouts..its time the owners let him go ...they are in it for investment and not to be just throwing money left right and centre and still in the championship 2yrs on

It's just the right thing to do for the human being now such is the treatment he is recieving from people. Scores the penalty and we go through no problem. Miss it and it was the worst performance ever in a town shirt. Awful negative hyperbole last night.

He is raw and wasn't his best night last night (after some good showings recently). Needs to go and play and sharpen up and be loved somewhere. We probably do need a bit more quality.

But he's a young player who needs support and to develop. Didn't enjoy some of the comments last night. Some were constructive criticism and fine. Some were just nasty and hateful to be honest.

We all have our opinions his effort I'd never knock,
That penalty miss against rovers I think awful,
From then on no time for him,
One day there will be a quiz question was AAH ever a footballer for Ipswich town,
Every one will answer differently I'm sure,
Im sure the majority would be no,

100% this. Ali isn't good enough - that is not his fault. Cannot fault him for his work ethic - always gives 100%. He is good mates with Omari - maybe he can have a word and tell him to act better.

It’d be nice if we had a youngster coming through who could spend a bit of time with the squad. You can’t see there being much game time/need for a proven senior pro. Unless we somehow sign someone awesome (unlikely).

Quite a balancing act I suppose

Hoping Hirst stays fit for the most which would allow an up and coming raw youngster with something to prove
