Here we go 09:33 - Aug 22 with 2201 viewswaveneyblue

Significant portion of the vocal keyboard fanbase write off our new signing before he plays.

Lovely stuff.

I haven't got a clue about this guy to be fair, but im going to give him a month before deciding whether hes the next Marco Holster.

Decent replacement for Broady, younger and has always played well against us . Time will tell .

I am not impressed with this one. Of course will support the lad and give him the chance but right now I'm not very enthusiastic.

Totally agree. I have no recollection of seeing him play so will stay open-minded. It seems to be fashionable to act like you know everything about every player in the world, or at least the ones we might sign.

couldn't agree more, I've seen him a few times early last season and thought he had something about him. just needs that master key to unlock him.

everyone will be using FM to decide who to buy next, I'm sure they could all become legit managers and coaches.

Leicester fans think all their own players are rubbish.

In any case, there's quite a bit of positive stuff on that thread, too.

Signing is ok so long as get another players who’s got a bit of X factor in that position.

Really feel like we are missing the magic Omari brought

Don’t think he’s being written off to be fair

It’s all about context - is he OH’s replacement and are we still in for the Norwegian youngster etc

Biggest gripe for me is the fee but not writing him off

If he works out to be value for money then fantastic and if he’s around tomorrow and maybe gets off the bench for 5/10 mins he’ll get my support

Why the fee?

£12m over 3 years - leaves headroom for further investment.

£7.5m to £10m for Broady, for example.

Also, why would Leicester sell a first team player for peanuts?

I actually think only a few writing him off. Mostly, myself included, the shock is the fee which is overpaying for him.

He's a good squad addition.

I think we are going to have to get used to bigger fees than we previously expected thats the market at moment .

I know very little about him either, hopefully it works out, but paying £12 million for a player who has been warming the bench for Leicester seems way over the top. I guess it’s what happens if you leave business this late in the window though!

I’d like to think he’s here as the Burns replacement and we are still in for the Norwegian kid. If he’s here as Hutchinson’s replacement it’s pretty underwhelming, for me anyway.

The fee does seem a bit high. Given Leicester's supposed financial troubles, you'd wonder if we went straight in with that offer or whether they wanted more and we offered what we did. £12 mil doesn't really scream bin fire sale to me but then again, the market is strange and crazily over inflated here. Don't want to make too many comparisons as we were in admin but we had to forcibly have our pants taken down for Holland, Hriedarrsson etc.

As for McAteer, he has played under three (four if you count Cifuentes since this summer) managers in two years, played in front of a toxic atmosphere (even when they've been winning) and like ourselves, been involved in a harsh Premier League campaign.

The worst thing we can do is make the outside noise just as bad. Maybe he will thrive with the stability of working under Mckenna and kick on with some positivity.

That said, I can understand how this feels underwhelming and the window has felt disjointed but same applies to most first season parachute clubs until ducks line up in a row come September. I'm sure the club knows where the glaring gaps are. I will be as peeved as anyone should we go in the international break with those not plugged but I'll keep my powder dry in terms of dissatisfaction until then.

I understand the headroom effect Homer please don’t try to accept we all understand for the most the meaning of headroom and PSR

I also appreciate the benefit of payments scheduled over a period but I’m talking about the valuation simple as that

IMHO I don’t think he’s worth the £11.5m. People can try and justify this by Broady’s fee or Omari’s but again my opinion and we’re all allowed one , I felt that was good business for both parties most notably for us

Again I accept your opinion and hopefully you do mine. As I say I’m there tomorrow and if he happens to make an appearance I’ll be cheering the guy on. Never have I suggested he’s a pony , just making comments ref his fee - like many others are

All the moaners kicking off about the 12m signing of an international player with PL experience probably weren't interested in the club when times were truly tough.

They didn't support the club when we were down to 8000 season ticket holders and they don't support it now.

Welcome to our club Kasey.
I must admit I know not a great deal about him but, then again I knew next to nothing about Omari when he arrived here a couple of years ago and that didn’t turn out to badly now, did it.
This could turn out to be a very good and shrewd signing by the club, fairly experienced, a full international and a good age to develop into KM’s ethos.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

Leicester fans think any player they've had in the last couple of years other than Vardy and Fatuwu is rubbish so I'd take that with a pinch of salt. Plenty also saying he has good attributes and there's a player in there.

Broadhead was further down the pecking order here than McAteer has been at Leicester (McAteer got more Prem minutes last season than Broadhead) and he's also four years older with little resale value and was in the last year of his contract. If we're selling Broadhead for £10m, I'm not sure McAteer at £12m is the massive shock some fans are taking it as. No doubt it's punchy but fees this window have been punchy, including the ones we've brought in.

Haven't found any disappointed Leicester fans so far, which tells you all you need to know. Squad filler at half the price would make sense, but this seems desperate and like we're overpaying massively for an average championship player, not good enough to establish himself at Leicester. His goal contributions output is also pretty dreadful.
We've done very well behind the scenes in the past few years but that doesn't mean we can't be critical. Our transfer business in the past 12 months has been very, very poor.
