Especially at a snip. £4m is dreadful business for Wolfie

I guess there's a point at which you can only deal with promotion rivals.

When it comes to budgets and teams the players are willing to move to.

I know a lot of the fans think a lot of Woolfenden so maybe the club were doing what was best for him . . . after all if Cov were the only club willing to pay the fee, to afford the contract he wants AND going to give him the playing time guarantee is he obviously looking for then it would be pretty bad form for the club to turn it down.

Maybe not madness, but respect for player's wishes . . .

Imagine no prem teams coming in and he’s far too good for League 1 and even lower championship.
I like that we do listen to players and back their moves. I seem to remember poor Kyle Edwards not wanting to be a bench warmer, obviously Morsy and now Woolfenden. Think we’ve done the right thing. (I’d have happily tried to play him Greaves and O’Shea somehow, love Woolfy - shame him or O’Shea aren’t left footed, would have been a good pairing.)

there may have been a gentleman's agreement when he signed the long deal. something along the lines of... if o'shea stays next year we'll let you move on??

if he hadn't signed, he'd have gone on a free this summer(probably to the same strata of club given his ability)

i don't think we can deny him this move (ogbene is less explicable for me)

I'm not bothered about Ogbene. The Woolfie deal though feels a very obvious one that can bite us.

Meh. We bought McAteer and Furlong from promotion rivals, and at a stretch Nunez too.

It happens.

Having a miserable player(s), sulking around the squad because we won't let him leave...

Madness

Is another way of looking at it -

There's no black or white, it just happens when we are going through the squad turnover like we are at the moment.

But these players aren't going to drop a division, so what do you do, just keep them?!

I think him clearly wanting and asking to leave, with Mckenna making that public probably hasnt help our side on the fee.

I'd imagine it was already done by that point or he wouldn't have said it.

It's not madness, it's reality. Incomings mean outgoings due to squad size and you can only sell to a team that wants to buy at a price they are willing to pay. We can't celebrate the arrivals of last week without expecting outgoings.

It is sad the promotion squad has broken up, agreed, but nothing is perfect.

It’s happening more and more though.

Premier League i’d say loans to rivals are happening even more often last few years

According to KM, he's been asking for a move. If he doesn't want to be here, best to let him go. £4m seems cheap though.

I’m struggling to get my head around this one

Coventry and I’d presume the Blades will be there or there abouts come August

Like someone has already neither are our “best “ players but they’re decent players all the same and will probably thrive elsewhere

Yes. If you listen to people none of Broadhead, Morsy, Luongo or Burgess should have left but please also sign loads of new players.

Is maths even taught in schools these days?

Neither Woolf or Ogbene are our best players.

Although Woolf will strengthen Coventry. He’ll enjoy having Grimes in front of him - he’s a more mobile Morsy in the way he always shows for the ball (not a destroyer though, much more of a playmaker).

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

I guess McKenna is backing his judgement that Greaves and Kipre will prove to be a better partners for O'Shea that Woolfie. I personally don;t see it that way, but he;s the manager so I have to roll with that.

That being the case then he needs to let him go and you can only sell to a club who wants him. Doesn't seem that against my better judgement there were many suitors for him.

All a bit of a shame because I just love his style.

Poll: Right now, who would you rather have as Prime Minister?

You would hope so, otherwise its an odd signing for them. They've conceded more goals this season than we have, admittedly they've scored a heap more too. Might sound a bit ridiculous to some as we're sat on 0.75pgg but I'm not worried about Coventry, or Sheffield United. If we can't outpace them with the squad we've got then we've got much bigger problems than them having Woolfenden and Ogbene.

Well, with us being below them in thwe table i guess they have to be considered a promo rival at this point!

Or a rival for relegation (runs for cover - but that is a joke BTW)

Not sure about the Blades. Have lost all four games so far and look a mess.
