In what way? A last chance to prove himself? Ridiculous if that was the reason given he’s been here longer than McKenna and anyway he did ok in a very average team performance on Saturday . A chance to say goodbye? In which case why not as a late sub and why no announcement beforehand ?
As others have pointed out, football is now a business with no place for sentimentality. He played on Saturday because McKenna thought he was our best option in that position. Two days later, he’s gone. Time to take the blinkers off, there is no master plan to this. He’s still the right manager for us but he needs to bring some continuity to the team pretty quickly or the season will pass us by. | |

I think if a player is in your starting 11 his value is higher when selling or negating a loan fee. Lots of football fans seem to forget football is a business as well.
However if Chaplin had of had a brilliant game , scored or assisted then perhaps we would not have let him go.
But also a nice touch to give him a game. I know someone in the comments has said McKenna would not play a weakened side but I don't think Chappers would be much behind Szcmodics | | | |

We haven't won a game all season. I doubt very much he was selected for sentimental reasons. If he was then that is gross negligence by McKenna.
