England v Andorra on 23:27 - Sep 5 by MattinLondon | Why? If the semis weren’t there, a lot of people will miss out. Each club receives approximately 32,000 tickets. If for example, the semis were held at the Emirates, each club would probably receive around 23k tickets - just not enough. |
Matt the point is they shouldn’t be there at all, so 32,000 each should miss out not just 9k. I’m not sure if your age or course but I presume you’re a youngster under 35 ? If you’re an example/snapshot of that demographic then the battle is already lost.

England v Andorra on 16:08 - Sep 5 by strikalite | It's at Villa Park, anyone know why when they could just fill Wembley and cash in? |
Presumably they feel they can make more from a Coldplay gig at Wembley tonight whilst also being seen to ‘do the right thing’ in sharing games around geographically. Needing Wembley for football all weekend in peak gig season costs.

England v Andorra on 17:05 - Sep 5 by franz_tyson | Yes, but Andorra don't have a chance. Neither do all the minnow nations. And it's a complete wasted part of a jam-packed footballing calendar as well as being meaningless and boring. Why don't they restructure all the minnow nations into their own league where the winners can play in the qualifiers. Earn the right. We've seen the joy of minnows getting to the 3rd or 4th round of the FA Cup. They need to make these qualifiers meaningful and also more jeopardy... like there's a possibility a big country doesn't qualify. All they're doing is ensuring the big nations get to the finals so there's more TV revenue. But its demeaning the quality of it. |
With an expanded World Cup, all the bigger nations should qualify anyway so if we don't play the small nations in qualifiers there will be no one else to play. Yes, it is all about maximising TV and advertising revenue.

So what, it should be a treat to get there. Lots of people missed out on tickets to Ipswich games last year, maybe we should have moved all of our home games to Wembley too

Tbf it is only Tuchel’s fifth game so using TWTD logic we can’t be expected to gel for another 10-15 games at least

I fell sleep for most of the second half. Absolute snoozefest. Now watching Dexter: Resurrection. Which by the way is excellent. Especially after Dexter: New Blood which was disappointing.

Really enjoyed Dexter new blood - gutted they have said they not following up on yet and will do more resurrections- it was brilliant admittedly but not sure what else a second season can add that’s not too formulaic. I

Apparently Tuchel is "not happy with the furniture", ie the pitch boundary boards with their rolling LED adverts (according to ITV comms). Good, so perhaps he can lend his weight to campaigning for getting the rolling text removed - incredibly intrusive and distracting.

Would they fill Wembley for Andorra? Villa Park didn't appear to be sold out - the official attendance is below capacity although they probably lose seats for some weird UEFA rules.

Perhaps it was the only international match yet where Carrot Road would have been more appropriate...

England v Andorra on 16:59 - Sep 5 by WeWereZombies | Maybe someone somewhere in the FA has managed to bring back the idea of a nation playing games at venues around the nation rather than only presenting the team to one corner of the nation. Who knows, there may even be an international match at Portman Road again. |
arent Coldplay there this week ? maybe they need more than a few days to get the kiss cam angles setup properly or something. equally it stops all the northerners complaining they have to go to London all the time for games, and then the FA can point out that none of them bother to turn out when the games are held outside of London. though I guess shows how many tourists go to those games.

Good, it is about time someone stood up to this intrusive advertising. The LED boards are Villa Park looked taller than the usual ones and annoyed me throughout the match. I watched a recent match on TV where the adverts had no flashing or animation, at Anfield I think. They simple changed from one company to another every so often. So much better visually.
