I don't even know why this is controversial - I guess it's because people like him are whipping up a storm about it.

He does know the other side would be true if Blackburn had been awarded the win, right? Fans could force a stoppage knowing they'd get the result.

...hasn't he?

I assume he's like a Scottish Poundland version of that Fabrizio bloke.

Instead of being given millions in backhanders from PSG and the like, Blackburn are bunging him a family pack of chicken pies every month to fight their corner.

Desperate.

The rules are quite clear that if a game has to be abandoned due to the actions of one club or set of supporters (eg crowd trouble or too many sendings off) then the result can stand. So his argument doesn't even make any sense on its own terms.

Nixon's recent meltdown from relatively respected journalistic source to angry Blackburn troll has been one of the more bizarre things I've seen this year. Should someone be checking he's OK?

I mean, he was never my favourite journalist, but this whole episode seems to have sent him round the bend.

It's a bit embarrassing now. If he genuine thinks this is the option that causes the most headaches then he's not qualified to comment on the sport.

He’s also clearly very uninformed, or just too stupid to undertake some basic research. If one set of fans invade the pitch, and cause a match to be abandoned, the club who’s fans invaded the pitch would be considered the cause of the abandonment, and therefore a situation ‘not out of the control of both clubs’

The few cases where there is a precedent for a result being awarded to one side covers precisely this situation.

He’s clearly biased (not good for a so-called journalist), acting like a 12 year old ‘fan’ of Blackburn and losing all credibility.

Can't believe he's being this thick about it. You expect it from their simpleton fans of course but someone who actually has a bit more understanding about the game acting as if this is the first time in recorded history that a match has been abandoned is ridiculous.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

He surely can't be that thick that he thinks fans running on the pitch getting the game abandoned is the same as a weather enforced abandonment?

I get that from a Blackburn position it is unfortunate and seems unfair.

I get that Blackburn Rovers will do and say all that they can do to get the result to stand, you wouldn't expect anything less.

I expect their fans to be partisan and shout about how unfair it all is.

What I can't get my head around is Nixon being quite so oblivious to the obvious. If fans invaded the pitch, it would be their fault and the result would stand. In this case it is neither club's fault (if I'm being generous in not saying it's actually Blackburn's fault for failing to provide a playable pitch) and so there's no reason why we should be punished for that just because we happened to be losing at the time. Perhaps if they were winning by 3 or 4, but not by one with 10-15 minutes left.

It's not rocket science.

Also, with his idea of the result standing if abandoned, then the winning team's fans would also invade the pitch to seal the win. So every is invading the pitch on 80 minutes yeah? Big pitch party?

How astonishingly thick is he?

On the subject of Nixon, why’s he getting his knickers in a twist so much? Is he a Rovers fan or something?

They can all suck it up. The correct decision has been made, one that is in keeping with the resolution of 99% of abandoned matches.
1
Nixon still acting the whopper on 23:48 - Sep 25 with 289 viewsMattinLondon

I guess if Blackburn fans really want to get a lifetime ban with their club playing behind closed doors for a few matches then they could run onto pitch to force an abandonment. But that kind of behaviour is a bit different to a torrential downpour.
