Seems unlikely but any chance we get him back do we think?

It was nice to hear that KM and him still speak regularly.

No one but if he was willing to come from Jan until end of season to be on the bench and play during those busier game weeks... Would be hard to say no. I know he will want to start every week but maybe after Kuwait he'd reconsider...

Azor and Jens are both brilliant. But one injury and having Sammy might make a huge difference...

In my heart of hearts can't see it happening for various reasons. But worth remembering that KM was fully invested in him being here for this season...

He can’t play for anyone until January.

Aware of that but that might make us make even more sense from then. Could come and train with us, join in coaching stuff?

No chance. He's burnt his bridges with his outspokenness on Gaza and refusal to wear the rainbow armband.

Who with? I admired him speaking out about Gaza. The armband thing not great but it was his decision to make I feel.

Reckon he links up with Lee Grant at Huddersfield, or may reunite with Mass at Millwall.

We would have to drop someone out of the squad of 25 for him even to be on the bench.

Depends who you believe, but most likely rumour seems to be Jewish members of the ownership group.

Either way, it's irrelevant we've moved on from Morsy and he'd be far too expensive and disruptive to bring back as a former captain to be 5th or 6th choice or whatever.

Not impossible that someone like Taylor moves on in Jan?

Not impossible, but we'd need to do that to fit in a player who, while he was very good for us, is not the future of the Ipswich team, even medium term.

That’d be a sad state of affairs if he has. ‘Don’t like genocide? Well there’s no place for you here laddie’.

I don’t see it. Apart from him being proven right, we don’t let stuff like that get in the way of football.

If he doesn’t come back it’ll be because he’s slowing down and we’ve moved on. Nothing more or less than that imo.

Heart says I’d have him back. As back up and club vice captain; a level head to have around the place. Would have to be realistic about playing time.

However would make it difficult for O’Shea, placing him in an awkward position. I think it would be asking for trouble in all honesty.

I think as somebody else said on here previously, almost certainly won’t be coming back to the UK given our tax year doesn’t end until April.

So whatever he’s earned in Kuwait will be taxable in the UK (ouch) if he comes back in Jan.

Most other countries tax years are Jan to Dec, which lines up with the transfer window. So almost inconceivable he comes back this season.

If we were to get promotion this season, there is no place for Morsy in our squad in the Premiership.

Having gone to the lengths over the summer in reaching an amicable agreement with Samy, with all sides complementing each other and Samy cementing his place as an ITFC legend, there is no way we would then go back and potentially ruin that (and the new leadership team) in re-signing him. In my view..

I was wondering about this. He's probably not in a great position of strength now, sadly for him, so maybe we could do worse than bring him back as cover for Matusiwa with limited minutes during any promotion run-in. He never got to say goodbye, after all. Whether it would work out for him to do so as a regular squad member, rather than as a particularly proactive and influential club captain, would probably be the biggest "no" in my mind.

The biggest concern is how his return would potentially undermine O'Shea's captaincy IMO.

I swear I saw someone say somewhere that if you let someone end their contract to join another club you can't re-sign them for 12 months anyway, but not sure if it's true or not

If he'd take a 6 month deal to help us with the run in as per Travis that would be ideal but I'd be amazed if he was up for that.

Exactly. Someone who practises free speech at a time when the very act of doing so is being framed as hate speech, is a hero.
