It's his dream job, but let's be honest, Man United are a joke at the moment and it's nothing going to change in the near future whoever is in charge. Short-term = dream job, amazing money Mid-term = enormous pressure, being stomped on by Gary Neville and Roy Keane Long-term = reputation ruined I'd sympathise with him and respect him for taking the job if it's available, but I think it is the biggest poisoned chalice In world sport.

| Amorin sacked….here we go! (n/t) on 10:30 - Jan 5 with 1380 views | Freddies_Ears | Lack of alignment from top to bottom in a club is the true recipe for underachievement. ManU have had this for years, Chelsea succeeded as the exception that proves the rule, for now. Once Kane left, Spurs' mess was uncovered. West Ham another good example. Arguably Leicester, Southampton & Norwich too. | | | |

Think you have enough to worry about with your beloved City.

(n/t) on 10:28 - Jan 5 by giant_stow | (i truly thought we were on to something - maybe we still are, but those two losses hurt) Man U get Glasner, Palace get your guy - he'd jump at it: half a season + summer to get his feet under the table with no danger of relegation. I wonder who you get to replace him? No nicking our man! |
Depends on your definition of 'something' I guess. FWIW I don't think Norwich will go down, but I do think your squad is a bit crap on both paper and grass. I genuinely don't think any of your players start for us, including Sargent. I say this without bias, you can chop and change your manager but I don't think it'll make too much difference, you're not a bottom 3 squad but I do make them in the 15th - 20th bracket which is where I expect you'll finish. FWIW I think McKenna jumps at United, why wouldn't he? I can't see him leaving for a Palace though, he's already turned them down once.
| Amorin sacked….here we go! (n/t) on 10:33 - Jan 5 with 1336 views | TheBoyBlue | McKenna would do a good job, given time. Except he wouldn't be given time. Hopefully Ratcliffe and the fans will do their usual and demand someone foreign managing in the Champions League and ignore KM. | |

| Amorin sacked….here we go! (n/t) on 10:35 - Jan 5 with 1309 views | itfcsuth | This isn’t a situation that needs to be discussed over and over. If Man Utd want McKenna, he goes and with all the best wishes, it’s really that simple. | | | |
| Amorin sacked….here we go! (n/t) on 10:35 - Jan 5 with 1293 views | Ralphinho | As others have alluded to; I'm far more concerned about McKenna to Palace following Glasner to Man U... Assuming Glasner would want to take on that poisoned chalice - Good payday and a good payout when sacked in 18 months time, but hardly a legacy building job! On the topic of legacies, would be a shame if McKenna did move on, as he has the opportunity to create a lasting legacy at Town if he can lead us to becoming an established prem side. People had their reservations about SBR and SAF early on in the tenures at Town and United... I know football has changed and we are unlikely to see those lengths of service now, but that doesn't stop me dreaming! | |

| Amorin sacked….here we go! (n/t) on 10:36 - Jan 5 with 1283 views | Guthrum | Somewhat surprised at that. Had thought Amorim's plans were what they were going with in the longer-term reconstruction of the team (following an era of overmuch player power, poor recruitment and lack of effort). Tho perhaps it was as much the Manager getting fed up with the stress? | |

Can't argue with that - think a bit of momentum blinded us to reality (we're in a huge scrap to stay up). I'll butt out of the palace chat now!

KM will go if they ask him. How can he not? I am worried. People in the industry know how good he is. You don't get approaches like he has had for nothing. United would also be smart to appoint someone with knowledge of the club.
| Amorin sacked….here we go! (n/t) on 10:41 - Jan 5 with 1228 views | dirtyboy | United won't go for Glasner, another with 3 at the back lol! Wilcox intereferring. I think we're safe. They'd be mad not to look at Iraola or Silva imo. Maresca doesn't seem like a good fit to me, Carrick won't go down brilliantly as being proven at that level, they need a proper proven name right now. | | | |

Really doesn't matter who they get in there, the club is rotten and Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been little short of a joke.

Was talking to a ManU supporting friend on Saturday who is of the opinion that they are finally getting things more sorted out on the pitch. The attack is much improved, but there is work to do on the defence. I imagine he will have been surprised at the sacking. Was always of the opinion that the players were more of the problem than the manager (wrong players recruited for positions, too much player power, not enough application by some).

I think there's a naivety in our fan base around just how highly McKenna is thought of. There were people on here not long back putting him in the same bracket as Liam Manning ffs, and its not just their recent careers that make that look silly. McKenna is a premier league manager operating in the Championship, that's how he's viewed. He's got a good chance of getting back there with us, could probably go back there in the next couple of months with someone else if he wanted to. The question he'll be asking is whether its a big enough step up when it comes. Clearly Spurs or United would be, a West Ham or Palace is more debatable. They might be seen as a good step towards it though.

The problem being that pretty much all top clubs operate in that fashion. Probably down to the amount of money riding on things and a desire by owners to have their own people actually spending the big money (despite potential ideological clashes). If McKenna wants to be at the very highest level, he will have to accept that - or get Ipswich up there ...

Exactly. None of that is going to change, he either accepts it or he probably never manages a top club.

Personally, I think McKenna is useless. Nowhere near Prem calibre. Man Utd would be insane to hire such an incompetent fool. All other Ipswich fans I know think the same.
