It's a tricky one. I personally hate VAR. But I hate incompetent refereeing (like we saw yesterday) too.
In short, I'm for any solution that's fair and rules in our favour consistently.

It’s worse.
Yes the referee yesterday was a total clown who got so many decisions wrong it was extraordinary. But with VAR we’d be having that kind of feeling every week. It’s total crap, it’s one of the nails in football’s coffin. |  | | |

I am in favour for goal line technology and offsides - factual decisions with no interpretation. Wouldn’t want VAR to be involved on subjective offsides, go with on field decision for those.
I really don’t rate VAR, all you get is another referee giving their version of events. One incompetent referee is enough, don’t need two.
I do feel there is an unconscious bias towards the bigger teams, and that is why I would say we didn’t get our fair share of decisions, and also why I would be much happier without VAR. |  | | |

It is very good and is a help for referees, but the way the PL has implemented it is rubbish, I say keep it as I feel even the PL referees will eventually understand the rules of the game apply them consistently, to both teams, something they are not able to do at the moment. |  | | |

For me it's worse. The delays in the stadium have reduced the euphoria of a goal knowing some bloke a 100 miles away may be about to draw lines or spot an infringement no one even thought about.
I'd give the ref the ability to ask for a review for any decision he wants to and the captain one review which the referee would do, Var only providing pictures.
Any offside, let var review but if they need to draw a line it's onside as its level in old language.
Might they miss some mistakes? Yep, such is life. |  |

Easiest fix for me is you put a 60 second timer on VAR.
If they can’t make a decision in that time, it can’t be a clear and obvious error. |  |

Probably good if you’re chasing promotion or champions league football and not so good if you’re fighting relegation and on the back foot a lot.

Was a big fan initially, now say get rid for everything except offsides. Goal line technology has nothing to do with VAR and that's fine too. I don't care if refs make mistakes, they are human and it all usually evens itself out in the end. VAR still makes mistakes and that's after 4/5 minutes of reviewing something about 20 times or more from every conceivable angle. While we're at it, bring in an official timekeeper for all games at professional level. One thing less for a ref to think about. | | | |

I was all for it. Anything that improves decisions made had to be a positive.
Now I am against it. The problem is that it doesn't improve decisions, it just makes it take longer to get similar inconsistency.
Take two incidents today alone. It appears as if Solanke kicks Guehi's foot when scoring even to the extent they were talking for quite a while about it being an own goal! But they don't give the foul at all. Then there is the slight foul outside the area before Cunha goes down inside the area for a penalty awarded. This one is rightly reviewed and overturned. But instead of a goal kick as the ball comes off Cunha and goes out, they go back to the foul that wasn't awarded before he got anywhere near the area which isn't VAR's jurisdiction to award. Even then, instead of giving that foul where it occurred, they award a free kick right on the edge of the area instead.
Those of us who were for it just got sucked in by the pundits' analysis always suggesting they knew better than the officials. Instead, there is always subjectivity and error and VAR has simply added another level to that and further delayed that error being implemented.
I think we just have to accept officials make mistakes, just like players and managers, and that it's part of the game. |  |

Saw VAR in Germany the year before it got introduced here and they hated it. And still do.
It’s a passion killer as a fan and just there to appease the army of armchair fans and pundits who never pay to watch a match anyway.
And, of course, managers who desperately cling to anything to mask their own deficiencies.
Apart from goal-line technology and offsides, I can’t see any benefit to it.
I am not interested in people re-refereeing the game I watch and love, sucking the life out of the atmosphere and goal celebrations from 200 miles away.
Train your refs to a high level, get the fourth official more involved (he can look after the watch for starters) and accept the odd mistake will happen. It’s no different to your keeper letting one through his legs or Hirst missing an open goal.
I’ve said it before, football is a human game, so human error will occur.
