| Reform's attack on workers' rights begins on 10:42 - Feb 10 by Herbivore | Well this is interesting. You don't even have personal experience of office work but you're sure that people must be more productive in the office than working from home. You're basing this on a hunch and yet you're certain that it's obvious. A smart arse already posted a link earlier in the thread, here it is again for you: https://www.kcl.ac.uk/news/stu Personally, I put more stock in actual research than I do in the hunch of a gardener and a grifter. So you and Farage aren't right and you might want to reflect on why you're so certain that you both are. |
It’s peak Benters, bless him

It's certainly an interesting insight into the feels over reals mentality of those attracted by the far right.

But surely people are more productive working in a office than at home. (Waits for some smart arse to post a link saying it’s the opposite or doesn’t make any difference). |
So someone using evidence to support their argument is now a "smart arse". How far we've fallen. SB

Once again you don't undertsand something/don't think it's right, simply because you don't do it/don't have experience of it. Facts and evidence are of no interest, just your feels. You have to be the most closed minded person I've ever come across. Do you ever try new things/get out of your comfort zone?

Yup agree with this. Not the business of government where people can work from (other than those directly employed, such as the civil service for example). Reform need to make their minds up as to whether they are a right-wing libertarian party, or an authoritarian one.

| Reform's attack on workers' rights begins on 08:00 - Feb 10 by DJR | Here is something from the Guardian about yesterday's speech. It's all really soundbites designed to appeal to their potential voters but it doesn't really amount to a set of serious policies that are going to solve the country's deep-seated problems. "Nigel Farage has doubled down on culture war rhetoric at a rally where he told thousands of Reform UK’s rank and file that he was opening up the party’s lists to candidates for a general election. The Reform leader drew cheers for a speech at the Birmingham NEC where said that a Reform UK government would get rid of all solar farms and take on “leftwing teaching unions.” He added that a Reform government would also ensure there was respect [that] “Judeo-Christian principles underpin the entirety of our civilization”. Farage also ratcheted up the party’s claims that crime was out of control, claiming that there had been a “near total collapse of law and order” in cities such as London." [Post edited 10 Feb 8:01]

You seem to be ignoring Nigels recent Starmer and Kemi approved edit to Luke Chapter 10- The freeloading Samaritan was only trying to reach our new Jerusalem to sponge off our taxes and hassle our girls. Luckily a gang of patriots was waiting for him on the South Coast ready to puncture his dinghy and force him to swim back to were he came from. And God was happy and spent the afternoon in spoons [Post edited 10 Feb 16:29]

Not strange if he or his backers has cash invested in office space. Do politicians have to disclose where they have investments in or where cash from their backers comes from?

| Reform's attack on workers' rights begins on 12:10 - Feb 10 with 652 views | The_Romford_Blue | It’s not a secret I work in the betting industry doing the antepost odds for an online firm. I also sometimes do big events in play. Some of those events such as the Super Bowl or the World Cup in June are in the middle of the night. My firm have had the software and programmes installed into my house so that these events can be done at my home rather than me getting on a train for 90 minutes to come in during the night. The superbowl the other day I changed the match winner odds 144 times during the match and ran 8 separate spread markets. It is frankly utter bollox from Farage that I could’ve been more productive by doing that job in the office and yet it would’ve meant 3 hours extra travelling, I’d be away from the missus overnight and would’ve had to wait a few hours for the first train home from the office. Nigel.. you can go f*** yourself. | |

Its the sort of thing that plays well to his core support (miserable old men and women who need to sneer at the younger generation), but it will lose him support with the people he will need to vote for him if he wants to get anywhere near government. An odd move tbh.

But there will be other soundbites for them. And it's all very calculated because it is designed to evoke an emotional response. Indeed, if the last 10 years or so has taught us anything, it is that for many voters emotion is the main driving force for how they vote. https://www.jbs.cam.ac.uk/2024 [Post edited 10 Feb 12:31]

| Reform's attack on workers' rights begins on 12:26 - Feb 10 with 535 views | Guthrum | Another thing is this rubbish about productivity. Politicians trying to compare us with places like China where, even if you believe their Stakhanovised figures, the work environment is totally different to the West. Intense industry with few environmental controls, manned by labour migrating from rural areas, living in barracks and under such pressure that suicides are common (and probably under-reported). More like the worst visions of the 1850s than the 21st century. Is that what we really want? | |
