A really weird use of the squad and not much quality to be found. Feel for Baggott as he was lost out there and Egeli not much better. Jack Clarke at left back and Kipre pulled off at half time.

Not one player has given KM something to think about. Of the starters, Greaves aside, nobody gets above a 5 out of 10 with Egeli, Johnson, Baggott, Cajuste getting a 4 in my opinion. As for Hirst, he was simply appalling. No strength, no pace, no aggression, no aerial threat, no hold up play and the touch of someone with Frankenstein's boots on. There is something not quite right with George. He is a far, far better player than that League 2 level performance. |  |

Not as bad as Lincoln away, same scoreline. But in the same league as that debacle. You can't just hand the initiative to the other team like that. A practice match. Wrexham outplayed us.
Embarrassing. A lot of people will say it's ok to go out of the cup, dont give a flying one, but it lays bare the situation we're in as a parachute club and how much money we've had to waste on poor but highly paid players.

I appreciate the disappointment for the travelling fans rather than those of us watching on the telly but I don't get the view of some that it was a boring game, the 0-0 at Portman Road was worse in my view.
It was more disjointed than usual but given the changes that is not surprising, should McKenna have made them ? If we had won 1-0 then I doubt anyone would be complaining even if the match had been exactly the same except for Greaves getting front of Windass to block a goalbound shot and Hirst getting his feet sorted out to fire in from close range, plus we would have been crowing about our second string dumping another play off placed team out of the cup...away from home. It should build some confidence for the next match when we field our first eleven.
Apart from that it was good to see Baggott getting seventy three minutes on the pitch against second tier opposition, that must help his development. Although neither Walle Egeli or McAteer shone they both had responsibilities above their usual role and that will aid those young player's development too. I'm fed up that we lost, a cup run would have been fun, but no team wins every game. As Kieron Dyer said in the post match pitchside post mortem, the teams were evenly matched...apart from Wrexham winning the duels. |  |

It wants exciting, but it wasn’t good either. It’s one of many games in my lifetime like that.
I’m not angry or anything, but seeing players not fighting for it always winds me up. Cajuste carried the ball well and McAteer and Johnson were fine down the right but Egeli kept dropping in between and getting in the way. Baggott was thrown to the wolves at left back he just wasn’t the Jakarta Hermann he needed to be.
I’d go with Akpom up top. He looked good again on the left when he got some service and drew some fouls etc but we were so all over the place anything good someone did wasn’t joined up.

And how good were the likes of Wes Burns and Sam Morsy when they were 24? Players don't max out their development at that age. He's had 6 months under McKenna who has a deserved reputation for improving players. He's improved as the season has gone on, albeit he needs to show more still. |  |

I disagree with Cajuste, thought he had a decent game. McAteer was o.k. also and Johnson was acceptable. Other than that nothing. Egeli looked lost until McAteer came off and he was switched. Hirst may as well been left at home. Kipre it has been said has not been on his game for a few weeks that's why I see O'Shea and Greaves for the League fixture.
Baggott got done several times and I cannot see the point in KM keeping him if he's not a league starter and has already been loaned out a couple of times.
We have the basis of a good squad. But I think to be good enough for the Premier League we are at least half a dozen short of being good enough.

Baggott can't even get into the Indonesian national team ranked 122nd in the world playing in the mickey mouse Southeast Asian and Asian Cup qualifiers you think he can pull up trees in the Championship?
If it is more of the same ponderous and aimless passing sideways and backwards to nowhere with strikers that fall over and fire blanks then it is not the changes made or the FA Cup but rather a team that is mentally weak, has no passion for the shirt and are happy just going through the motions week in week out.
How many poor matches had we have this season already? This is not a one off.
It is the underlying attitude and tactics that is worrying.
For every brilliant win i.e. Cov there are also plenty of matches where we were extremely poor. Both Preston matches. Sheff Utd away. Oxford away. Blackburn away. Bristol away.
Is this the standard of the most expensive team in the entire EFL? And don't start comparing us with Leicester and Southampton this season, they are where they were for other issues. If we continue to spunk £££ on useless players like McAteer and Egeli then perhaps we will end up like them in no time.

We thoroughly deserved to win at Derby, we were by far the better side. As I've posted elsewhere, last night's performance (with a second string side) was rubbish and you have just cause to complain, but a bit of overall balance is needed.
