| Precious Little Pansies 08:19 - Feb 14 with 1933 views | Chris_ITFC | Get over yourselves. Open your eyes and realise our priority is promotion - that’s all that matters. The team selection shows that, the result matters not, and if we go up, none of you will care one iota about last night. Go look up the last time a non-Premier League side won the FA Cup. Stop scrambling around looking for reasons to moan every week and get off your high horses. So much entitlement, so little perspective. Roll on next week. Uppa Town. | |

| Precious Little Pansies on 08:48 - Feb 14 by BanksterDebtSlave | Of course it should be fine to express disappointment about the result and performance last night, especially if you spent time, money and effort to witness it. I think it would be fair to expect better from a squad that theoretically is being prepared for a proper go at the Premier League. Not sure what annoys me most tbf, over the top negativity or pointless, divisive threads like this, maybe I'm just a precious, little pansy though! |
It doesn't say much about our depth with an eye on the premiership does it?

Exactly. If you don't like over the top seemingly negative comments ... scroll by and ignore them, but many are just disappointed by the performance. I like watching ipswich play and play well. Why do i want us to play less games? Id rather our fringe players got game time and played well, rather than play less games. We were sh1t and I would prefer the posts that acknowledge we were sh1t rather than ones which try very hard to paper over the cracks. Someone has found this 'entitlement' tag and running with it a bit too much. I find if very entitled that the OP can't handle any other comments than his own. Acting like a little baby.

| Precious Little Pansies on 09:18 - Feb 14 by Herbivore | If we were to name our strongest XI for the game next week, only Kipre of last night's starters would be in it. That's very much a second XI. Yes, individually most of those players have played a decent amount of football either off the bench or rotating in when we've got midweek games. But that XI would not be starting together in a league game unless half the squad was injured. |
I think most people (including me) are just disappointed and concerned that our squad rotation options do not appear to be playing well. The last time we played in this league was such an incredible unexpected gem of a season its difficult to compare to this and realise the whole dynamic is different. If we could just roll it back to playing with pace, wearing down the opposition with the fans roaring them on and the "finishers" coming on at 60mins and completing the job like then it would be great but we aren't built like that now. I still can't help being annoyed at disappointing results and I guess many many others can't either.

There's a difference between players coming on for 20 minutes as finishers and making ten changes to the starting XI. Lest we forget our second string in 23/24 got knocked out of the FA Cup at home against Maidstone.

Eh? Everyone would have liked a top performance and a win.The entitlement part is where we (in the context that was made clear before the game that we would make wholesale changes and we all know league comes first) lose a close game away from home to a team 3 places below also hunting promotion and fans make out the world has imploded and the players are a disgrace. People wanting refunds etc. Our second 11 lost a game 1-0 away. It happens. Maidstone was much more a 'disgrace'. I think we all got over it. As a more general point honestly it's mad how quick we've gone from a shambles of a football club wallowing in L1 to a club where fans are frustrated in 3rd . Someone said on here this week "McKenna underperforming yet again". Mind blowing. Same in lots of clubs. We really should try and enjoy it a bit more. Enjoy the journey.

Well yeah, we played our second team and if they'd won they'd have played the next round as well. I'm not really sure what point you're making?

It’s not a reserves or second 11 tho, it’s still A group of players who trains together, are instrumental in our league games, whether starting or off the bench, and individually and collectively played very poor last night. We should have done a lot better, some of the passing was pathetic , zero Shots on target, it’s not the losing , it’s the manner of how we lost. all in all a bad night. On to the next.

Someone on our right wing (can't recall who) in the last few minutes of the game allowing the ball to trickle about 5m gently ahead to a Wrexham player only a few yards away from their box, was the lowlight for me. Shocking.

| Precious Little Pansies on 08:45 - Feb 14 by bazza | People keep saying second 11 , reserves team, I really don’t buy that, apart From baggot, it was the same players we rotate weekly. Why cant everyone just agree it was a terrible Performance, the rose tinted glasses brigade are almost As bad as the ridiculously OTT end of the world Brigade. We were crap, we must do better.!! Fingers crossed we up our game next week, and the remainder of The season. |
Well as you say Baggott, but Johnson also. Neil has only had one other game as well. McAteer hasn't been a regular and neither has Alpom who hasn't hit any sort of form. It has been alluded to that Kipre has been off for a few games and that was proved by KM pulling him second half for O'Shea. I suggest the backline against Wrexham in the League be Davis,Greaves, O'Shea and Furlong. The midfield will be Matisuwa and or Cajuste/Taylor and the forward line Clarke,Azon and Egeli or M<cAteer.

It really doesn't matter that much. Fringe players will.move on and better will come in. The younger lads playing will develop. And let's stop forgetting Wrexham have their eyes on theorem and started a stronger team. Why are we behaving like we played a L2 team.

There will possiibly be only one or two of the team that started last night that will start next Saturday, injuries notwithstanding. An Ipswich team without Furlong ,Davis Matusewa, Nunez and Philogene can be described as not our best.

Pretty big difference between not winning a tough game, and not even trying to win the game though Given comments during the week, the team selection, subs during the game and post match comments, do you think we actually tried to win?

| Precious Little Pansies on 12:06 - Feb 14 with 249 views | pointofblue | If we had to lose one of these two games, let it be this one. But we seem flat in so many games this season - particularly away - and last night, albeit with caveats, was another example. | |

Going through our starting players. In our front 4 we have the most expensive Championship player in Egeli, a former Golden boot winner in Akpom, a 12 million quid promotion winner in McAteer and a Scottish international and arguably our first-choice 9 in Hirst. Midfield we have a Swedish international cheat code in Cajuste and a promotion winner captain in Neal. Defence we have an experienced PL player in Johnson and two highly rated Championship CBs in Greaves and Kipre. Palmer was our first choice goalie a few months ago. It's only Baggott who's a reserve player. 10 changes, but that was still a strong side. Fair enough we lost, but all those players I listed should have every reason to play well and force their way into the starting first eleven for the next game. That's what disappointed me most. It was a great opportunity for some of these players.

It's pretty much the definition of a second XI, mate, in that 10 of the 11 who started wouldn't usually start in the league for us if we were selecting our first XI. Of course they train together and some of them have played together but that combination of players hasn't played for us together before and probably won't again. Of course they could have played better but it's not one I'm going to lose much sleep over personally.
