| Sheffield United….the team to win the Play Offs 19:20 - Feb 14 with 2339 views | WestSussexBlue | The form they’re now putting together under Wilder and only 6 points off the play offs. Looking ominous as the team that gatecrashes. Let’s say we were to miss out on autos and finish Third, how would we feel about Two legs against them? | | | | |

I think until we demonstrate an ability to come from behind, plus improve our patchy away form, a two legged PO tie against them might be a struggle. They still have a lot of teams to get through though and you’d still have to fancy us to catch Cov given their form since Dec. All to play for.

Cash out. They’re not going to make up 17 points in 14 games. They would have to win every game (which they won’t) to finish on 84, and even that might not be enough.

| Sheffield United….the team to win the Play Offs on 20:49 - Feb 14 with 1655 views | BloomBlue | Is their form that good? Unless I'm reading the form table incorrectly they've won 3 out of their last 6. All the top 6 teams, exc Coventry, have better form over the last 6. Plus Birmingham, Southampton and Wrexham have similar form. They're going to need a lot of teams to lose form to for them to make top 6. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

They're only six points off the play offs, if they put a little run together they could easily make that up, but yeah you could say that about a host of sides, that's the beauty of the play offs, even Nodge could still do it..
| Sheffield United….the team to win the Play Offs on 21:15 - Feb 14 with 1534 views | skinnybob72 | The worry is that we're chasing top2 from here and just miss out last day of the season. We're then in the play-offs on a bit of a downer and come up against a team who have just hit form at the right time, possibly that lot up the road. | | | |
| Sheffield United….the team to win the Play Offs on 21:16 - Feb 14 with 1527 views | Swansea_Blue | It’ll be Wrexham. Coventry will drop into the playoffs, Wrexham will end up winning. We’ll all laugh at Frank and the BBC pundits will cream themselves over “the Hollywood miracle”. They’ll get relegated next year on the lowest ever points total and at least one of the Hollywood golden boys will be revealed in the Epstein files. Their club will go into crisis and be bought out by Marcus Evans who’ll relegate them to the National League in consecutive season. Amongst the Wrexham fans this period will become known as ‘the banter era’. Def info. | |

We've had umpteen teams flirt with top six only to drop away, now we've got teams who were dead and buried being discussed. A completely abnormal year it seems.

They only need to make up 6 points. Easily achievable at this stage of the season, and the teams above them will take points off each other.

It's not just the 6.point gap but the amount of traffic they've got to get through with some of those sides having games in hand on them as well. It's not impossible they sneak in, with their squad they should be up there, but I don't think they'll make it.

Exactly. They aren't even managing 2 points a game in the last 6 form table, and 2 ppg over the rest of the season would only get them to 70, which might get playoffs in a low points season. They would need amazing form for the rest of the season, all 9 teams above them to have worse form than them, and even then only realistically aiming for one play off place. It'll be one of Derby, Wrexham, Saints or Brum to take the last spot. Also, everyone keeps talking about this season's championship being weaker/unusual, but in 23/24 after 32 games 6th place had 48 points (same as this year) with a clutch of teams bunched behind them. The top 5 finished as the top 5, and 7th place (Norwich) ended up in 6th. The top few teams are undoubtedly a bit weaker this season, but the rest of the division is the same as it ever was. That a far too simplistic way of looking at it. Look at the deficit against the teams most likely to be in the playoffs or automatics. Middlesbrough [1.9] - 19 (and 1 less game to play) Coventry - 17 [1.2] (and 1 less game to play) Millwall - 14 [2.1] Us - 12 [2] (and 2 less game to play) Hull - 12 [2] (and 1 less game to play) Derby - 6 [1.7] Preston - 6 [1.2] Wrexham - 5 [1.9] (and 1 less game to play) Bristol - 4 [1.6] (and 1 less game to play) Southampton - 4 [1.5] Birmingham - 4 [1.7] Watford - 3 [1.3] QPR - 2 [1] Stoke - 1 [1] The figure in [...] is the 10 game form / PPG. Sheffield are at 1.6 PPG. Realistically you're looking at 6th spot - 1-5 are 12 points or more ahead, all but Millwall with a game in hand, and all except Coventry with a much better 10-game PPG. For 6th spot, Derby, Wrexham, Bristol and Birmingham have equal or better PPG, and 2 with a game in hand. So yes, mathematically Sheffield can make 6th, but unlikely given just how many teams are ahead of them, many on similar or better runs. Even Preston, if the next 14 games playout as the last 10 have, would stay ahead of them. There are 11 teams in with a shout for 6th spot, many in reasonable form. Sheffield are in joint last place for that mini league, and everything points to it being very unlikely that they'll win that mini-league and make the playoffs,

The standard of this division is awful compared to the Prem. The only half-decent sides I’ve seen have been Cov (before they went off the boil), Boro, the Blunts (when they feel like it) and us (and we know we have a diff performance in us). The fact that garbage like Hull and Preston are in the PO race speaks volumes as to how poor a division it is.

The parachute teams make all the difference. We’ve been the best of the bunch by miles. That’s really unusual and telling. The fact there isn’t mini divisions as apparent as every season is the main indicator. When we went up you had runaway leaders. This year it’s Sheffield Wednesday as runaway relegation, and teams pinballing all over the league.
