| Going to be a major inquest if we lose tonight 14:47 - Feb 24 with 2582 views | muccletonjoe | And we quite clearly could at least fail to beat Watford, but i am confident of getting the 3 points and an improved performance , which will put behind us the last 2 weeks and steer the promotion ship into calmer waters for the run of home games which follows . | | | | |
| Going to be a major inquest if we lose tonight on 14:53 - Feb 24 with 1965 views | nrb1985 | I'm not confident of a win but confident of an improved performance. Feels very much like its the play offs for me so I would like to see us just build towards consistency of performance and show some metal on the road as we move into latter stage games. I know autos are in our own hands but simply can't see if with our away form. So an improved performance whilst showing a bit more fight, solidity and organisation would be a good start for me. Our confidence is probably a bit fragile atm so I'm not expecting a vintage game but surely better than Saturday?! | | | |

It could yet turn into a 4 or 5 horse race for auto places

Admittedly not as confident as what I was but I’m still think we’ll finish top two. Think tonight we will see a much improved performance, one where we will be aggressive and playing at a much quicker tempo and this will set the time for the rest of the season.

That’s the problem though isn’t it , too many silly dropped points. Win one, playing well, then draw one we should have won, then follow that up with a loss. We just don’t get any consistency going. We need to show some metal, man up, fight for the results. Too many players just going through the motions it seems. And on top of that McKenna coming out with the same old excuses.

I really hope you're right but with our away form as it is it seems like it'll be a bridge too far. We are probably going to need to be near faultless now to get the 2pt PPG that gives us a chance. Just don't see it with our fragility on the road.

We're close to 2 ppg since the start of September so it won't take anything like being faultless to manage 2 ppg over the rest of the season given we've managed it (near enough) while being a long way short of faultless.

dear god, its not even 'likely' now, let alone if we lost tonight, genuinely don't get how a team in 4th is 'likely' to get promoted it's possible, we're all hopeful, there is potential "LOL"

| Going to be a major inquest if we lose tonight on 16:32 - Feb 24 with 1337 views | ottovonbismark | The tendency towards pointing to the next set of games as being the start of 'something' has been a mantra on this board all season long - the trouble is it never really seems to happen, throw in a few away fixtures and it quickly evaporates. Look at Burnley in the PL - already down in all but name but are they folding week after week like we did last season? No they're not. What's the difference between us and them ? I'd be intersted to hear some constructive thoughts on this. | | | |

Win our two games in hand, we’ll be third and only two points off second. Not that long ago it was eight. I’m still confident of automatic promotion.
| Going to be a major inquest if we lose tonight on 16:42 - Feb 24 with 1282 views | OldFart71 | It's the hope that kills. Win and everybody is up, draw and it's not that bad and even lose and as long as most of the rest of the runners lose or draw then it's o.k. Are we in danger of kidding ourselves. We aren't that great. Yes we have some decent players but too many are in and out form wise. I think we are way off being good enough for the Premier League and truthfully a difficult situation for those responsible at PR as although we got to the Premier League possibly two seasons before expected if we fail this season then another season has to be negotiated with no guarantee of promotion and you can bet your bottom dollar that players like Leif and Jayden will be bid on by Premier clubs or those just promoted. | | | |

I'm as frustrated as anyone by our inability to catch the top two, but I don't think Saturday's result was due to a lack of fight etc. In fact, you could point to our coming back from behind twice and taking the lead as evidence of some metal and resilience. We lost on Saturday because of the sheer number of defensive mistakes. Every one of their 5 goals came from poor individual errors (and there were others that could have led to our conceding even more). I'm hoping this won't be repeated for a very long time, and in fact I have confidence that it won't based upon the fact that, up until Saturday, we had the best defensive record in the league.

On your first point, it's because people are desperate for us to finally click into top gear and blow the competition away and on paper we are capable of that. It's going to the point where we're going to need a killing spree run to make top 2 - hence why we're speculating when it's finally going to happen (or not) On your 2nd point, didn't Burnley go something like 15 games without winning? I'd say their season has been very comparable to Ipswich, 2 sides trying their best but just far short of the quality required. In fact if anything we took longer to be cut adrift than they have.

That would be the Burnley who have spent 9 of the last 12 seasons playing in the Premier League, as compared to our 1 in the last 12 seasons. Even with that, they are currently only 2 points better off than we were at the same time last season. It is not an easy division to play in.

Our recent form is more of a concern. 4 points from a possible 12. One win in 4.
