Be interesting to see if they come at us or try and play more how they do away from home considering the opponent. They lost 1-0 to derby for example and actually had 27 shots to 10 and loads of the ball. So maybe not you typical bottom 4 side. Looking at some of the bang average teams that have picked them off, it could play into our hands if they have try and play on the front foot. We should have the legs and depth second half big time, it’s 100% the game to make quite a few changes as well. They won’t have that luxury from Saturday. [Post edited 14 Apr 3:26]

Potential banana skin tonight for sure. We underestimate them at our peril.

But we've already signed Hayden Hackney because we're already promoted. Can't we underestimate them a little. I don't want to unsign Hayden.

They'll know what a boost to us our last result (against, hang on... oh yeah, them) was. I can't see them being anything other than cagey and treating this as a point would be a great result game, keeping their powder dry for their remaining games, particularly their next one against cheating Leicester.

This is the pivotal game in our running game for me. Win and we are almost there, lose or draw and Saints win then it’s all to play for still. I’m hoping that it’s one where our depth of squad might be enough to get us over the line, but we can’t afford to spurn golden chances like Azon and Hirst did on Sunday. Clinical finishing needed. The pitch won’t be great so we will perhaps need to temper the playing out from the back a bit to avoid another gift like the one away to Oxford.

Its not as simple as that though, they need 3 pts, if we just give them the ball, a bit like what we did Saturday then their crowd will get restless and they will be forced to attack. Alternatively we dominate and the crowd will also get restless. I think it depends on how good their defence is, If we are confident we can break them down and score two then we should do that. If not, we should play counter attack

| Just checked some stats in Pompey’s recent home games on 08:19 - Apr 14 with 1855 views | Herbivore | We lost at Leicester and Oxford so of course this is a not a gimme, although I do think we look a different side now in terms of our resilience. Both sides had big wins at the weekend and that could go one of two ways for each side, sometimes it gives you a big boost, other times there's a bit of a hangover. I think our ability to freshen the team up without really weakening it will stand us in good stead in this one and whatever the score is at 70 minutes, I fancy us to finish the game well. An early goal would be lovely of course, I could see us then picking them off and winning fairly comfortably, but that's not a given. | |

| Just checked some stats in Pompey’s recent home games on 08:29 - Apr 14 with 1772 views | JakeITFC | Yup - different circumstances but they had a go at us at Portman Road and also when Arsenal came down to them in the cup so I think the manager would rather give teams a game. That being said it’s a great atmosphere down there and a tight pitch so I don’t see any world in which we are going to be purring around particularly tonight. | | | |

Think they're very much going to be playing for a point against us with more than half an eye on the weekend Going to be very difficult to break down. They don't concede too many at home

I can certainly see them thinking keep it tight against us for a point (also thinking we will probably play it fairly tight too), then their big game is at home against Leicester this coming Saturday (a six pointer, if I may) plus they have Brummidge at home and Stoke away. I actually think both teams tonight will play it cagey for 60 minutes, then we'll turn it up a bit and get the job done. But a point for Pompey tonight would be great for them, and the crowd will know it too. Last thing they want is to go at us, get spanked and go into Saturday licking their wounds.

Interesting you say that, just wondering what its based on? General performances? Their home form this calendar year is W1 D2 L4 F7 A8. The win at Boro was their first in 9 home or away. The home games seem to be low scoring affairs, will be interesting to see how they set up. Mousinio say they plan to "disrupt" us. Whatever that means.

If Town show the attitude they did Saturday they will win at the end of the day better players not having to play ninety minutes of every game. Bigger squad only thing stops you winning is attitude and not putting in the yards. All this nonsense about how difficult to play at Portsmouth it's a pitch eleven v eleven it's all about mental attitude.

They'd be stupid not to. Decent managers at the bottom end of leagues often do that to survive. Can see us winning the next 4 tbh by fairly tight margins and being up before the season ends.

Have to agree. Pompey's form is no great shakes whatsoever. No home win in 5. No clean sheets in 16 of their 20 home games. 1 win in their last 8 (23rd in the form table over the last 8). 1.05 goals scored per home game. Their squad is pants. If we're going weak at the knees over Marlon Pack and John Swift, we might as well give up on the PL now. They have no fit senior full backs either. By all means respect them, but now's the time to be bullish and grab these games by the fecking balls.

I'm expecting another very controlled, professional performance tonight. 2-0 win and roll on to Sunday.

| Just checked some stats in Pompey’s recent home games on 10:48 - Apr 14 with 1000 views | Guthrum | If they come at us, we'll slaughter them. Better teams than Portsmouth have tried that this season and lost (Coventry, for example). The low block will be more testing, that is far trickier to unpick. Edit: Close marking and a fierce press is our Kryptonite. But do they have the players for that? [Post edited 14 Apr 10:49]

Just on your point about no fit senior full backs, is the right back Devlin fit? He looks a good player and I think Wrexham bid for him in Jan. I think left back is a real problem for them while Oglivie is suspended
