Delap is a no brainer. Knows the manager and knows the system. Won't need time to gel.

| New strikers on 21:16 - May 4 with 3230 views | nodge_blue | Gemini says: Ipswich Town's European Striker Targets With promotion to the Premier League secured, Ipswich Town is casting its net across Europe to bolster Kieran McKenna's attack. With some current attacking loanees set to return to their parent clubs, adding a clinical and dynamic European forward is a priority. Here are the prime European-based targets linked with the club: 1. Franculino Djú (FC Midtjylland) The Situation: The 21-year-old Guinea-Bissau international has been in sensational form in the Danish Superliga. His performances have attracted the attention of Premier League rivals like Liverpool and Newcastle United, with Ipswich conducting scouting missions this spring. Why He Fits: He is a highly dynamic, left-footed forward who can play as a central striker or out on the right wing. With exceptional acceleration and an eye for goal, his ability to beat a high line or press from the front makes him an exciting, high-upside fit for the top flight. Estimated Cost: £19M–£22M. 2. Noel Futkeu (Greuther Fürth) The Situation: The 23-year-old German forward has been highly prolific in the 2. Bundesliga, drawing interest from clubs such as Anderlecht. Why He Fits: Futkeu is an economical and sharp attacking option who has hit double digits in back-to-back seasons. He excels at finding pockets of space in the penalty box and offers a different, direct profile that could provide excellent squad depth. Estimated Cost: £5M–£8M. | |

Frankfurt I believe have a buy back triggered for Futkeu. I wouldn’t be surprised if Fraser Hornby was looked at. Done well in same league as Futkeu, localish lad and a big old number 9.

Would be a good back up. Jander is one I think is going to be excellent, he didn’t look out of place against city at all. They seem to have found a lot of good players with their parachute, Dibling and Fernandez money. Wonder if we could we look at him if WHU go down. Kind of annoying that you have young players like Jander in Germany willing to come to England second tier and we want back to Jens. What is clear is we should be scouting in the top 2 German divisions for talent.

I’m not completely sold on Delap. Surely we need better than we had last time and he’s struggled this season (yes, he’s in a basket case team but I’m not sure his footballing intelligence has improved). I might take him if we also got another quality striker too, and it might depend on who leaves and who else comes in as to whether he is the best choice for how McKenna decides to tactically take on the league next season.
