But unlike 2 years ago, where i was full of excitement - this one just feels a bit "meh" im not sure if its becaues i know that were not going to have an easy time of it, or whether im just a miserable sod. anyone else feeling a bit flat about it? feel free to tell me to cheer the f up

| feeling a bit subdued - anyone else? on 11:35 - May 5 with 1661 views | Sarge | It doesn’t have the novelty factor of before so it was never going to be the same kind of high. I also wasn’t at the QPR game so didn’t get to experience it in person this time which really alters how it feels. But this is what you want as a football fan, back at the highest level, the best teams and players in the world coming to Portman Road and there’s a chance we might beat some of them. Especially coming off the back of a World Cup I think the first game of the season is going to be great. | | | |

| feeling a bit subdued - anyone else? on 11:42 - May 5 with 1566 views | TheMoralMajority | I'm much the same. I think there are a few reasons. The main one being that we are much more prepared for what to expect next season, and it is unlikely to be a lot of fun (don't get me wrong, I want Ipswich to be at the highest possible position they can be at, but we all know that next season is likely to be a slog!). Last time we were all experiencing an insane high after back to back promotions, and we took that high into our expectations (I think most thought we would make a reasonable fist of it. In retrospect, that was naive, but we felt pretty invincible at the time). The second is more personal (and this isn't looking to re-litigate, I have made my thoughts clear, and these are just how they impact me, not speaking for anyone else), but the actions of the upper echelons of our leadership have taken the shine off things somewhat for me. 17th place will be a hell of an achievement next year.... but you don't win a lot of games to finish 17th. To be honest, it's probably good to go into next season with low expectations, but the impact in the immediate is to feel a little underwhelmed. | |

| feeling a bit subdued - anyone else? on 11:46 - May 5 with 1532 views | SomethingBlue | Honestly, anything that makes Ipswich come alive as it did during the weekend is great with me so while there isn't the wild-eyed disbelief of two years ago I'm still utterly delighted, it was another very special time. I also think we will mean business in what we do this summer and will be very surprised if we aren't placed to give it a real shot. | |

| feeling a bit subdued - anyone else? on 11:47 - May 5 with 1510 views | N2_Blue | seriously!? Nothing could ever match 2 years ago, it was unexpected and the style associated with it together with what we'd endured for 20 years prior. But last Saturday and the celebrations after i was buzzing and still smile thinking we are PL club again. It was still a massive achievement despite being favorites etc. We could have easily been like Luton and Sheff Utd, that is why nothing should detract from how big an achievement this season was! Promotions do not happen often at any level. Savour them when they arrive. I feel a bit sorry for any Town fan not overjoyed and buzzing at the moment. | |

| feeling a bit subdued - anyone else? on 11:48 - May 5 with 1503 views | gainsboroughblue | I actually think this one is bigger. Much bigger in fact. Yes, 23/24 was amazing, a fairytale if you will but a fairytale means that the future of the club wasn't as dependent on that outcome. | |

Feels a huge relief tbh so many stressful games. Absolute joy to relax and look foward.

| feeling a bit subdued - anyone else? on 11:56 - May 5 with 1401 views | Guthrum | It is inevitable that the intensity rising to a climax at the end of the season will fall over a cliff afterwards. There is no Ipswich football to anticipate until late August, not even any transfer action for at least a month. Players and staff all on holiday. Just a silent void so far as ITFC goes. | |

| feeling a bit subdued - anyone else? on 12:27 - May 5 with 1112 views | LandOfMickyStockwell | Not really. The subdued feeling could just be the void of close season. The Prem doesn't start until 22 August and the window doesn't close until 31 August. There's a World Cup to wade through, fixture list (19 June) and pre-season before we can see our squad for 2026/27 and begin to gauge our performance. Then football will be back at a rate of knots. | | | |
| feeling a bit subdued - anyone else? on 12:30 - May 5 with 1060 views | Bobbychase | Have heard this from a few people. You can't tell others how to feel but personally I am just as buzzing as two years ago. To get back at the first time of asking, with a target on our backs this time as a parachute payment club, with all the things that could have gone wrong - and did - this is just as important to the overall future of the club. Two years ago we got promoted arguably ahead of schedule and it meant a season of struggle in the Prem. Now we are better equipped as a club. Birmingham and Wrexham, who spent loads, our friends up the road at Norwich and clubs like Leicester and Southampton would love to have had our story this season. Deciding whether or not you like the current squad better than the Morsy/Burgess/Chaplin team is a personal choice. Personally I love them all for what they've done for us. | |

| feeling a bit subdued - anyone else? on 12:32 - May 5 with 1027 views | Churchman | I’m over the moon about it. It’s a great achievement whatever spin the misery brigade put on it. Promotion put an awful lot of smiles on an awful lot of faces over this weekend, young and old. That is what the football club is all about. That is its identity and it’s history in the making. If the mob up the road and other clubs don’t like it, who cares. Not me. Had enough years of watching others succeed while we played rubbish football in a decaying ground for an owner who sold tickets, didn’t care and knew as much about running a football club as I know about quantum physics. The days where I hoped we still had a club and hoped for 15th are gone at present. So I’m enjoying every second. Football is an interest and a distraction in an increasingly difficult world. Those that indulge in misery, want to see us fail, pronounce ill informed judgements - that’s their right and actually their problem. Next season? Of course it’s going to be as tough as hell. The optimism I felt last time isn’t there after a harsh dose of realism. But we will be much better prepared and I believe we will do a lot better. Enough? Probably not but as long as the club grows and progresses and the players give their best, that’ll be enough for me.. | | | |

| feeling a bit subdued - anyone else? on 12:36 - May 5 with 964 views | Swansea_Blue | It’s getting repetitive innit. It’s about time we won something else other than promotion. The league title might be slightly above us next year, so we should stick to the cups. FA Cup in 26/27, Europa League in 27/28 and CL in 28/29. That’s so me as long as we do it with flair. | |

| feeling a bit subdued - anyone else? on 12:46 - May 5 with 874 views | Illinoisblue | “Promotion is amazing, but…” is a very nice gripe to be able to have. KM has allowed us to be able compare promotions. Think about that. During the Evans years we used to compare goals. Chaplow or Hunt? That was as good as it got. Undeniably a different feel to the season, for a few reasons, but getting automatic promotion is bloody hard. Should never ever dismiss what’s been achieved this season. | |

| feeling a bit subdued - anyone else? on 13:06 - May 5 with 679 views | swede | I can understand that the second time around promotion may not have hit the heights of two years ago for all. Two years ago, I will admit to being in tears at the end of the Huddersfield game with the pain of the Evans era well and truly over. On Saturday I was bouncing with the rest (well, as much as an overweight pensioner can bounce lol), but no tears. I am far from feeling flat, but am excited at having another go at the Premier League. Millwall fans, have the right to feel flat, but I'm not sure we do! | | | |

| feeling a bit subdued - anyone else? on 13:50 - May 5 with 382 views | Dubtractor | I get where you are coming from. I've said a few times on here that I was desperate to win promotion, for the euphoria of the moment, but less enthusiastic about the reality of having been promoted. Hopefully we'll give it a better go this time round! I think our squad is more robust and premier league ready this time, but under no illusion that it will need significant strengthening for us to have a chance. | |
