....it seems as though McKenna is attempting to flutter his eye lashes at Fulham and is very interested in the job.
Hopefully they can find a free agent to take the job quickly, so the vacancy is filled and we can move on with next season.
If he does go, really hard to see good candidates out there to carry it on - sure Ashton will have his list of targets. This time 2 years ago the only name really mentioned and seen as who we'd go for if McK left was Rob Edwards.

Not sure why you have so many downvotes. Of the domestic candidates (those who are British or recently managed in Britain) he would be high on my list.
Aside from him walking on to the pitch and putting the ball in the net himself I dont think there was much he could have done to make Boro a better team in that run in. Just looking at a 5 game run they had XGs of 2.30 2.72 2.98 1.22 2.69. They won 0 of those games. Great news obviously as it left the door open for us but from a neutral stance not sure what more Hellberg really could’ve done in those games. Seems a good character too.
Id much rather McKenna stay. But if the options were like Rosenior, Parker. O'Neil etc. I would take Hellberg all day.
Maybe we can find one out there ourselves. He went to the Champ with Boro, got to be even higher regarded European coaches that would be desperate for a shot in the PL.

I agree. That is how I would like us to go about things.
You have to use that Premier League pull when you have it. Managers will be queuing up to manage a Premier league team.

Obviously, KM was a huge success, but it does worry me that won't be the philosophy. In the best league in the world why would you not cast a wider net? Hopefully thinking has moved on slightly from 18 months ago on this.
Isn't it more likely that it's just KM's agent doing his job? We've been here before. I'm not sure it means KM wants it. He's just very methodical and considered and I expect the way things work his agent will advise him that being touted is no bad thing. Doesn't necessarily mean he wants it?
He was receptive to Palace, Brighton etc. But decided against...
It's got to be United or Spurs once he has us back in Europe...

There must be lots of coaches in European leagues who want a premier league position? Instead of just looking at coaches here who have been knocking around awhile what about trying to get Peter Bosz at PSV for example?

Exactly, similar to player recruitment, it would be bit depressing we would be relying on Championship mainstay Boro to find our next coach for example, go into the market!

Usually yes - but i wouldn't say it's just his agent doing his job. McK would very likely have to take a pay cut to join Fulham.
There must be some good European managers out there like the brighton guy who came from Germany. May be some international managers who may be stopping after the WC.

I have some left field names that would interest me if the worst were to happen. But it would end up being Rosenior anyway.

Fair point about the pay cut. The immediate pull is that Fulham really could be stepping stone to the top 6 job. But Town surely have more potential in long run.
If he goes it's with huge best wishes and fondness for what he did here. But psychologically for years now I've only really thought it would be okay if it was to United or Spurs once we're established back up there.

Compensation to us and wages to McKenna? Chump change to Fulham. Their owners are worth £13bn plus change. Their owners could find any amount for McKenna down the back of the sofa.
It’s immaterial whether he or his Agent is stirring the pot. They’re one and the same thing given the Agent works for McKenna. It’s simple, stay or go. If KM wants away, absolutely fine. Just get it done ASAP.

Absolutely. It's dragging on now.
McKenna signed his new contract on 30th May after he and his agent flirted with Brighton. So we're in a worse position than summer '24 if KMc decides to leave.

The problem for all at Town is that nothing can happen unless Fulham follow through. If he really was their no.1 target they could have had him by now. Personally I think they are looking elsewhere.

I don't think that's quite right, negotiations aren't things that happen that quickly when someone is under contract.
Approach needed, release clause needs to be met, interviews with McKenna conducted, contracts agreed, legals to review etc.

Ashton's hires at Bristol City were Lee Johnson, Dean Holden and Nigel Pearson.
He struck gold with McKenna but a risk we could take in L1. You do wonder what direction we'd go in next, whether it be someone to keep us in the PL at all costs, or a longer term appointment to manage us in the Championship should that happen.
Talk from what I have heard from an ex colleague who has a brother in County Fermanagh is that he's on his way.
The story that TalkSport is running appears to be from the one place you refer to in order to prepare the fans for the news that is to come in order to try and get ahead of the game by stating the club are working on replacements etc to take a little edge off the panic in the fanbase.
Classic PR move and the story's been place delibrately and with the one place's relationship with Talk Sport they are probably only too happy to do it as they know they will no doubt get exclusives with the one in terms of interviews in the future in return.

If he were to go I'd like to think that we'd go after Kim Hellberg from Boro.
You're not alone, very impressed by the guy. A complete unknown at PL level of course, but then so was KM when he first got there. Let's just wait till we see what happens with KM, before we consign him to ITFC history though. I think he's got unfinished business here. It's up to him if he wishes to finish it.

The same was happening 2 summers ago, he ended up staying but the stories were the same - I'd have zero doubt if he does end up staying he'd be any less committed or serious or engaged as he has been for the last 4.5 years so it's not a worry for me.
Would Fulham match his reputed wages though on top of the buy out clause ? If it does happen let’s get it done though,we need to move on. We can’t let it go on like last time in the PL. We need to be getting our own ship in order, not playing this is he, or isn’t he game.
