| I was watching Kings of Anglia podcast and a name was mentioned... 21:21 - Jun 10 with 4794 views | Libero | I hadn't considered, that I actually think would be a great fit- Graham Potter. He's currently managing Sweden at the World Cup and really we need our new man in situ ASAP, so I suspect that sadly rules him out somewhat. Here's my immediate list of yes and no's - just to wind some of you up. YES Graham Potter Ange Postecoglu Brendan Rodgers Liam Rosenior Sean Dyche Tony Mowbray Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Thomas Frank (also on a sabbatical, sadly) Gareth Southgate (not sure why one of the national teams most successful ever managers would want to come to Ipswich, but I have seen his name mentioned) NO Gary O'Neil Scott Parker Steven Gerrard Rob Edwards Steve Cooper Phillipe Clement Danny Rohl Carlos Corberan | | | | |

I’d love that, but I think he’s beyond what Celtic can attract atm.

My feeling is similar to yours. That Frank is already done. Or Carsley ticks a lot of Ashton type boxes.

100% but much less than a year I’d think.., he’ll be in situ by Xmas. Our ‘well protected’ will be we’ve replaced him, and he has the right to work in a league which isn’t direct competition. We’ll get minimal comp, if any at all…, but Ashton shafted McKenna so fair play. Will be interesting to see how it go’s - I wouldn’t want the Jamestown Analytics smoke from Brighton at Hearts, and Rangers are improving. He has to win every game.

He's a top manager, although I have discovered this evening that he's over in the middle east managing a side currently...

They will have had to pay us the £8m to make that happen. Can’t see that money coming from the SPL. In the NFL contracts like this don’t chime if someone retires. Doubt that’s the case here but we’ll be die compensation for the 2 remaining years minimally.

| I was watching Kings of Anglia podcast and a name was mentioned... on 21:33 - Jun 10 by MK1 | West Ham was a disaster. I have nothing against him, just think he isn't as good as some think. Can't argue with the Brighton bit, but since..... |
Agree that he was a failure at both Chelsea and west ham, but no manager has done any better at either club since!

Also Brighton are more a sum of their parts than just the manager, with their ownership and analytics, his work since hasn't been great and only managed to scrape into the WC via play offs and they only got into the Play offs due to the Nations League, which isn't great given the players at his disposal.

| I was watching Kings of Anglia podcast and a name was mentioned... on 08:37 - Jun 11 with 483 views | TIB | I feel like Ole could well be the one as he’s had experience in the Champ and then progressed to Prem and European sides. That said, part of me hopes we bring in an old head like Dyche to just keep us up for a season, giving time for Frank to finish his sabbatical and then come in. Wishful thinking I imagine though. | |

Potter's first game in charge of Sweden was 15 November 2025. He did well to get them to the WC given what his predecessor had achieved (or not). It's his work at Ostersund that meant he was the thinking person's choice on here before McKenna was even a glint in Ashton's eye. However Potter's comments and actions as mentioned by Phil suggest that he's a long shot at best currently.

But this job has come out of nowhere! Could he be tempted? Id like to think so, stability, Prem already, patient fanbase, new training ground, year on year ground improvements, full house of passionate fans, built on history, but also now looking forward, global reach via Ed and Fab. I've just sold it to him!

He wasn’t tempted by Fulham, nor Crystal Palace - both significantly more appealing jobs than Ipswich Town currently!

Surely worth speaking to Frank to see if a project here might persuade him to come . It didn't work out at Spurs but there is a similarity between Brentford and Town that might interest him .

Managing in a poorer league with a handful of competitive games a season? It's a step down and beneath McKenna's intelligence and desire to improve. Much more alluring jobs around than Celtic. [Post edited 11 Jun 12:09]
