I think this is the season we've got to start playing him through the middle. Clearly that's where his skillset is and we saw glimmers last season of what we saw from Chaplin popping up at the right moment on the edge of the box. That's what Sindre can do, but with a much higher ceiling.
Whatever happens, he's a 20-year-old kid about to play his first season in the best league in the world, which is a credit to him for getting there. I don't think he'll start too many games, so it's his job to take his chance when that chance comes his way. |  |

Don't think he counts towards squad numbers so, hopefully, he'll be in and around the team. I honestly believe with some confidence and playing in his more natural position he'll offer something. I think the championship last year was quite a challenge for him. He did well considering his age, but he was not a top player. For his own development I think it would be good with a loan to a championship team. IF he hits the ground running and we have a need we can call him back. |  |

Doubt he will expect to be in the starting eleven much at the start of the season. He will get his chance to stake a claim and there is a good of success.
Hopefully there will be plenty of chances to start in other games. Would start him in the three Trophy games, away to Colchester, Luton & Peterborough plus, hopefully, a good run in the League Cup.*
It maybe a loan is a possibility in January.
*o’Neil has a good cup record at Bournemouth, Wolves & Strasbourg, at least by Ipswich standards in recent years. |  |

If he can play 30 odd games that would be perfect, comming on in a number of those , I dont think we can see him as starter atm. But 25 to 30 games and some starts in cup games and some continued development would be great. |  |

I struggle to see what he can offer. This might be harsh but;
Pace? No.
Height and/or strength? No.
Crossing? Not really.
Shooting from range? Not really.
Skill or ability to beat a full back? Again, no.
He scored four goals last season (I think) nicely taken from relatively close range, all were ones you'd expect him to get on target at the very least. Coventry was a nice finish right into the side netting, to be fair.
Of course he's had a full pre season and I'm sure he's further along than he was a year ago, so you never know. But if he'd been signed for £2m there wouldn't even be a debate about whether he might be involved, we'd be debating whether it would be a Championship or L1 loan. |  |

I have good expectations. He has looked quite up for it in the pre-season games, and seems much more comfortable in the number 10 role. He has good off the ball movement, and he's not afraid to shoot. His ball control and dribbling are not quite there yet, but I'd rather he be training with the first team and put in the odd appearance from the bench than be loaned out. |  | | |

We need to work out what he can do instead of what he can't do, then find a position for him to coach him into it.
As it stands he is has a lot to do and the coaching staff need to understand him a bit more before loaning him or keeping him in the group to train with them.
No point sending him on loan he we don't have a clear directive in telling them where to play him so he can bring it back to Town. | | | |

Is he really any better - yet - than Humphreys ?
He was one of our weaker, regular players last year, ending the season way below both Burns and McAteer for his position.
He may well have potential, we obviously thought he did, though I have yet to see it. I really hope he does.
Something amazing, something similar to what we saw with Dalian Atkinson, will need to have happened over the summer for him to play a role this season. | | | |

Yes, you are being harsh. He’s not a winger and he came to a foreign country at a very young age to a different level of football and a team that was forming.
He is now the same age as Hutchinson was when he came here, though a different type of player. He is actually strong, but needs time to build the robustness you need in that level of football.
No he’s not blessed with a great deal of pace, but he has good awareness, can pick a pass, knows where the goal is and has a heck of a shot on him. He will be a good player. Maybe even with us if he is supported rather than hammered as a selection of our support so love to do.
He was acquired as a top prospect. I still think he is promising and I certainly wouldn’t judge him on last season where playing him on the wing was a needs must situation not if his making.

Off the bench - think McKenna got it wrong playing him off the right so much and had he not had so much credit in the bank he'd have got pelters for it. Minutes as a 9 or 10 and some starts in the cup will do him the world of good. |  |

I would have thought a foreign loan in a decent league would be best for his development.
It would give him a chance to perfect his skills and develop physically.
Of course, he doesn't count towards the squad but I got the impression that McKenna didn't want to play him in the crucial games at the end of last season, and it won't be good for him if the same happens should he stay. [Post edited 3 Aug 17:58]
