It was an excellent game and we played some good stuff. Shame about the result but we look so much better than last time and there are encouraging signs we can stay up.
The negative comments are clearly from people who never endured it when we were dreadful for all those years.

I think some people have really skewed expectations of what we should be achieving this year.
That's 2 away games against battle hardened Premier league teams, a win and a narrow defeat, with plenty to like in our performances, is a really decent outcome.

I agree, thought we were good and on another day we nick an equaliser. I like the way we move the ball at tempo. Everton a very good side who set up well to defend, as evidenced by our lack of real clear cut chances today. |  |

Our attacking unit wasn't quite on it today, but it was a game we were properly competitive in, and could have taken something, even if Everton deserved the win. | |

As far as I'm concerned, my expectations are currently being met. Whilst I think Everton deserved to win today, I think we were unlucky not come out of that game with at least a goal. Davis should have done much better with his chance. He was never going to get as much time and space as he usually does today, Everton are well drilled, but when we have had moments like that this season, we have usually taken them, so it was unfortunate today.

But yes, we were decent overall. Still think we could cut out a few of these unforced errors, and we need to be sharper when we get into attacking areas, but all in all, it’s coming together.
This is still a new team, and it’ll be a while yet before we really hit our rhythm. Would like to see Palacios take charge of that midfield more because he’s the one with the quality, and I’d like to see Enciso release the ball quicker. |  |

An away game at Everton is always a tough ask and I agree with you completely about Moyes and his knowhow. As for the being more clinical and we could have a point, Everton were far more wasteful than us. If the score had finished 3-1 to them it would have been a fairer reflection of the game. | | | |

I thought it was OK. Bit disappointed, but we're lower end table and we better get used to losing games. But it was close. Only 1-0. We were down to 10 men. Away. And we gave it a go and they were relieved.
Only moan was fustration with Enciso. Just wasted opportunities when being selfish and running down blind alleys. I get it... he's x-factor and that's his MO, but we had spare players in space in the final third when he just keeps his head down. Outtara looks a natural at this level. | | | |

It would be fair to say I've taken more than my fair share of stick for being negative.
I said last week we'd likely get nothing from Tuesday/Saturday and so it has proved.
Whilst Everton had a number of good chances, we rode the storm and finished the game incredibly well given we had ten men.
I hate losing and obviously not happy but did stay to applaud the team as I felt they gave their all.
Too many players had off days (Leif, Enciso, Emmerson, Clarke) but the effort was there and on another day we could have easily gotten something from that game.
We were in the game until the end but we have to appreciate Everton are a very well drilled and experienced side. Tarkoswki knows how to con the ref.
Outtara I thought was outstanding and MOTM by some distance, hopefully Scherpen's kick up the butt sees him play better in the future. Walton way too slow to release the ball and his side passes to the right put a lot of pressure on Outtara and Fatawu.
Over the break if anyone is in the building we need to work on free kick and corner routines. These pointless sideways passes then two or three more back to Walton are pointless (yes I get the possession thing) but away from home try and create a chance get the ball in the box or wide. Likewise corners we need some Chaplin moments. | |

Yes, me too. The difficulty some people have is that they can't see past the last result, past the snap emotional reaction to the last result even. But that performance was the most confident and well structured we have been as a team so far - and that's despite two or three of our forwards being a bit below the high standards they've set so far. We really looked at home, away(!) against a more solid team than Palace, and even looked to be setting the agenda when we were down to 10 men.
We're no longer just a hard-scrapping second best against most of the lower half of the established PL clubs, we're one of them.
It was really quite encouraging if you're an Ipswich fan, and if you can see at least into the middle distance. |  |

I think spending £200m has skewed some peoples perspective. I suspect some think that should make us nailed on to win most weeks. What most don't consider is that spending that money has not even taken us to parity with the squad spend of those that are expected to struggle this year. I know squad value or wage spend is not the be-all andend-all, but there is usually a very good correlation between them. We will still only be 17th in that respect, probably very comfortably too! |  | | |
