As well as discussing the rescue package. An Apology for his comments last week:

Blimey, I must admit I didn't see an apology coming. Smacks a little bit of revisionism and saying "yeah, no, I didn't mean that, what I meant was" but at least it shows he is listening.

It's still missing the point somewhat though that while the approach may make long-term sense, the man in the hotseat currently leaves a lot to be desired.

Sorry Marcus but this is a ridiculous thing to say. Your strategy hasn't hit a bump in the road. Your strategy has been rolling down Bishop's Hill for at least a decade. With every season that passes it has gathered speed until we hit one of the buildings at the bottom. Now we somehow have to climb that hill with a damaged cart while you tell us it's all under control.

Truly impaired.

Yeah it's a complete non-apology and trying to rewrite what was said.

It was fairly explicitly blaming us for what occurred after McCarthy left.

As for the rest of the statement, whilst he does have points about how unfair the current financial systems work in the pyramid, the criticisms of him go far beyond just pure funding, which he does not address in the slightest.

Just more PR waffle from Evans.

Was needed - the statement last week was completely tone deaf and went quite a long way to pissing off people who were already quite pissed off.

He's made his decision on Lambert so I guess we've got to live with it. I hope he's right.

I was going to say it was a very Priti Patel sort of apology.

Strange that nobody at the club thought about that before publishing.

I don’t think anyone with half a brain cell really has an issue with how much Evans invests each year.

It’s how poorly it’s invested & the lack of structure at the club that is the issue.

League One budget ended up creating a League One club.

Massively shocked.

Think his point is that the budget remains the same, but the game has changed around him.

Ultimately he is right - the bubble of football is going to burst, and if a bloke worth £800m is struggling to finance a club in the third division of English football then we probably need to think about the same as a whole.

He always sounds sensible and realistic when..... on 14:02 - Dec 10 with 1929 viewsBloots

....he's talking about "the bigger picture" of football in general and even the Club itself.

His problem is that he doesn't actually resolve any of details that he considers to be minor.

Like why does our manager play such dull predictable football that is simple to nullify if you are a half decent team?

Or why does it take 16 minutes to get a beer at half time?

Or why does the ground look so shabby?

If he had a decent management structure around him they would deal with the "minor" details and he could waffle on about the structure of football.

Lambert out.

We won't be four years in League One you silly sausage.
When the salary cap kicks in fully we'll be competing in an even playing field with only Lambert's skills as a manager to make the difference.
Meaning we'll be out the division in two seasons, tops...

HUGELY IMPORTANT note from Marcus on 14:03 - Dec 10 with 1903 viewsunstableblue

This is an extremely significant message from Evans. I think the ridiculous statement he made had gone unrecognised and unchecked, then we were really not in a good place.

I'll continue to criticise Marcus for the unclear strategy and management structure. But its really positive that he has made this gesture. And I hope this leads to a better atmosphere amongst the 2000 on Saturday.

There is very little patience left for the Lambert project and Marcus' reign. We need to see progress against Pompey on the pitch, we may not get the result due to injury. But we need to see the passing system, getting more progressive and forward looking, or we're just not going anywhere.

"That got me thinking about harmony at our club. Every fan, player, coach, manager, owner all want the same thing - success. When that doesn’t happen, it inevitably leads to tensions.
I for one have probably not helped the recent frustrations by my ‘be careful what you wish for comment’ with regards to calls by some for a change in management. It was not meant to offend nor defer blame for past mistakes and if anyone took offence, I apologise.
To be clear I have not been swayed in the past when making important decisions for Ipswich Town, some have been good, some poor but I am 100% responsible for all of them.
The message I was trying to deliver last week is that my assessment of our current progress, based upon the facts and finer details of the uniquely difficult circumstances we are operating in this season, coupled with our results so far, gives me confidence that we have the right players and management to take the Club forward. Some will not agree but that’s football - it’s all about opinions."

Yes this is what I picked out of his statement. He seems to think we're demanding a change of owner as we want some big spender to come in and buy his way out of the league.

No, that's not what we want. I'm perfectly content with the level of investment (and very grateful for it), it's the decision making we struggle with. Without the right decision making it doesn't matter how many millions you chuck in.
