Tonight feels like the biggest game in Lambert's tenure 14:22 - Feb 9 with 2355 viewsBluefish

Don't get me wrong the jury has already concluded that he is an utter fraud so it isn't about him but it is about the club. Win well tonight and we are in a contest to scrape the play offs, lose tonight and it is game over for another season and hopefully for Shambert forever

Not sure if Phil, Joe or others have heard anything but it doesn't seem like many of us are expecting him to be sacked if we lose tonight. He should be of course, but many of us thought it would be curtains if we lost to Crewe, whereas not many are saying that today. It's probably down to apathy but just an observation.

We've given up hope of something being done correctly at our club, basically. I'm one of the last people to ever call for a manager's head, as I feel for them on a personal level - it is their livelyhood - but I honestly believe it shouldn't be Lambert's livelyhood, and he's stealing a living.

I've given up trying to work out what's going through the owners' mind, really. I can't think of any logic behind him still being here, beyond Evans really really doesn't want to sack him and will grasp absolutely any excuse whatsoever to keep him here.

At present, "the new players need time" is absolutely going to be an acceptable excuse, unless Posh absolutely destroy us.

I tend to agree with this. A draw or better is vital. Aside from Jackson he's pretty much got a fully fit squad to choose from

I don't feel as if it's any bigger than any other game considering the ongoing issue

Ongoing issue being PL should have gone ages ago......tonight's result ,either way, will have no consequences ....unfortunately

We live in hope as ever

Unforeseen circumstances seem to play well in Lambert's excuses to Evans, don't they?
Injuries, red cards, own goals, all seem to be adequate mitigation, despite being perfectly common. I'm sure bad weather conditions will work too.

We're due a little luck so perhaps an own goal and a red card will be in our favour tonight

We are so far off these teams now that..... on 14:59 - Feb 9 with 2211 viewsBloots

....tonight is like one of those "free hit" games that are usually reserved for when Carshalton Meat Packers Rovers Strollers get drawn against Liverpool in the FA Cup.

Nobody expects anything other than a defeat.

An accurate pass will be lauded as "exquisite", a tackle results in commemorative T shirts being printed and if anyone beats their man they are given the Freedom of Ipswich by the mayor.

What.
A.
Club.

The next couple of games against teams in the top 7 or 8 will confirm where he is and if we have changed anything? Sure we'll still beat the fodder in the league but have little margin for error

Win tonight, perhaps even draw, and there's at least a pathway towards salvaging the season I think. Fail badly again and we'll be back to the usual utter exasperation at Evans' inaction.

I'm not sure we are due a little luck, to be honest. I think Blackpool's the only game we've won since Accrington in October that you'd couldn't attribute to a bit of good fortune.

A defeat won't be the end of the play off "dream", we'll still only be a few points away with plenty of games left.

But obviously it would make it that bit harder.

And as others have said, the outcome certainly won't affect his position as manager.

RIP Sir Bobby

He was never getting sacked, that whole 3 games to make it right thing was fake news being spun online. The club has indicated very strongly they are not listening to the press or supporters on this.

He'll be here until the end of the season when we finish 7th.

We'd have to be attacking and forcing errors for an OG and/or red card to happen..

Generally in sport, you make your own luck - teams who push more players into the box, etc, etc get more 'lucky' penalty decisions, for example.

Agree - but will the pitch hamper any (limited) progress he may have made on 17:07 - Feb 9 with 1840 viewsunstableblue

Marcus has given him AGES to show green shoots, Marcus has funded him yet gain in these loanees (into what is now a bloated squad)....Blackpool game had some excellent passages of passing and movement and better forward play. But still moments of fragility.

As unlikely as it is... if Lambert is going have any chance at doing anything at this club, it has to start now, and as you say tonight... you can't keep saying we're playing 'incredible' and not beating promotion rivals, higher placed, better coached teams.

Only fly in the ointment is the pitch!! I know people are saying its going to be OK and isn't an excuse or factor. But Lee Bowyer said recently - "I thought it was a horrible game to watch. The conditions were horrendous. The pitch was not playable. It was very scrappy. It became a bit of a battle."

Has anyone considered that the owner may be clever. For example Fred on the radio says I been supporting town for 85 years and I ain't renewing my season ticket boy!

Then we fail to make the play offs in March and Cook Cowley or uncle tom Cobbley comes in as new manager. I put it to you gentleman the perfect tonic for selling season tickets?
