I was discussing this with RKD a little while back and I think we came to the conclusion that offering Kieron the job is a no brainer.
We are currently a complete mess and who are we going to attract? It will undoubtably be another has been or probably a nearly has been.
There is not a lot of difference between Kieron, Gerrard or Lampard as punts.
Lampard and Gerrard were undoubtably more significant players than Kieron but Kieron wasn't too far behind. Kieron was absolute quality.
As we know good players don't always make good managers but we aren't exactly the pick of the crop at the moment.
Lampard went on to manage Chelsea and Gerrard is flying at Rangers.
At this time IPSWICH TOWN are languishing beneath the likes of Doncaster and Accrington Stanley.
It is quite plain that if we offered Kieron the job with Terry Butcher as a deputy they would bight our arm off. Can you imagine Accrington Stanley having a chance of Kieron and Butcher? It just wouldn't happen.
Although it's a punt we have the opportunity of having a pair of bods (nailed on taking the job) that many teams far above our current position would absolutely die for.

I think the reason they won't be considered is they won't maintain the party line. They both care enough about the club to speak out about the issues and we clearly have plenty of them. I'm expecting another well paid manager who will publicly back Evans one hundred percent. |  |

KD works for me.
Totally agree about not being able to attract a decent manager. I keep saying to people who want this name and that name, it ain't going to happen. Any manager who is good enough to be wanted by another club ain't going to take us basket case on.
Its a risk but it can't really get any worse and it will be cheap for ME. Keiron has not much to lose. He could either be a miracle worker or it just doesn't work out. A contract to end of season works for all really.
Its a tough gig and i'm sure it'll end in tears but i don't see there is much choice and i firmly believe our next manager MUST have an ITFC connection as they will be the only type of person that undertstands the club currently. |  |

Don't think it's stupid, there are plenty of merits to it, he would be cheap given it would be his first role, it would give the place a lift and he would have quite a bit of slack and he knows the current squad.
Just concerned about the management structure and the vaccum of expertise above him, could be setting him to fail. |  |

Think as well that because the overall structure at the club is non-existent, he will want a really experienced Tony Pulis type who will have seen it all before and won't need much help on anything.
Dyer would be brilliant, but for a first managerial post I think you'd need to have a lot of support around him (which we currently don't have), so at the start at least he's mainly just worrying about coaching /setting up the team and matches. |  | | |

I like the enthusiasm that KD would bring with him, one of her best things Sheepy did was to big up Magilton as a fresh start and a project that might take time. The club needs that.
I worry that’s it all too much of a mess after years of Evans cutting costs everywhere and three years of on-pitch failure and I don’t want it to all go wrong for Kieron very quickly as it would stop any managerial career he might have.
Butcher, for all he loves the club, has proved not very good at football management. |  |

I think Dyer would undoubtedly go for it. Gets him a first step on the managerial ladder at a reasonable-sized club where he already has a head start with the fans.

I've bored everybody to tears since then about how I used to play against him and saved a penalty from him once. It would be a bit mindblowing seeing someone who I played against as a kid in the hot seat. |  |

My only reservation about putting Kieron in charge is the club's structure, or rather lack of it. We're simply not set up to allow experienced managers succeed, let alone relative rookies like Keane or total rookies like KD. |  |

It would be strange to see Ipswich with a manager that I used to see being dropped off for training by his mum whilst I queued for tickets.

I would have Kieron as manager, Butcher as a general hero walking around for players to talk to (I don't rate Butchers man management skills but he is a fecking legend) and I would put Simon Milton is as Mr ITFC.
We have a gallery of international superstars all willing to help out because they absolutely love the club. We are blessed with something that even some top Premier teams don't have. When Lambert arrived he was barking on about this, he got Warky et al to come to training and made a big point of it.

It's a no brainer and not only that it's a cheap option for Evans. Butcher and Dyer have a combined 110 caps for England. That's a scary amount of experience and contacts in different eras. | |

The issue with this is Evans (as Phil) says does not want to delegate and why would he bring someone in who then points out all the structural failings which require investment he does not want to provide?
It will be a Pulis/Pearson/Harris type short term stop gap.
The only way forward is a new owner and then we can appoint KD. |  | | |
