So Facters (he/him), Mrs Facters (she/her), Footers (it). True story. The organisation is A Major Professional Organisation.

Anybody else encountered this? on 19:18 - Jun 17 with 2836 views | MattinLondon | Think on sites like Twitter it’s common to see this - could be wrong. On the surface it seems a bit silly but I guess if a person wishes to be referred to as ‘they’ then it’s only polite to do so.
Anybody else encountered this? on 19:28 - Jun 17 with 2743 views | giant_stow | I noticed this in a zoom meeting the other day and wondered if the system was having a techy burp. The bloke on the other end worked for a small left wing org so think he might have chosen to do this in solidarity.

Don’t most of yours just say (brother) or (sister) alongside their names?

Anybody else encountered this? on 19:41 - Jun 17 with 2656 views | WicklowBlue | The company I work promotes this too, its a key part of us all being allies and encourage inclusion and authenticity. Genders are not binary, and we're all humans and deserve to be treated as such. Back in the noughties the treatment a Trans person received (huge multinational company) was absolutely disgraceful!!! Without saying too much, someone on my team wanted to transition recently and the team completely supported them and supported their transition. Imagine living a life where you are are constantly in conflict with your implied gender identity? I cannot, it's one thing transitioning in a work environment imagine doing so across all your social circles.

Anybody else encountered this? on 19:45 - Jun 17 with 2621 views | MerseyBlue | It's pretty commonplace for people to opt into it in my place of work now but it's not something that has been mandated or even recommended. We have however had a lot of inclusion training and it seems that most of the staff have positively taken on board what we've passed on. I think the key thing to remember for anyone who feels uncomfortable about it is that you can always use the person's name or 'they' (although some non-binary people do not like the use of 'they'). I also think it's fair to say that most people who struggle with preferred pronouns find it difficult to shake the habits of a lifetime of assuming people's genders based on biological features. Generally I think if you make a mistake and are apologetic about it and try to learn from it then nobody gets too upset for too long. [Post edited 17 Jun 2021 19:56]

Anybody else encountered this? on 19:47 - Jun 17 with 2601 views | WD19 | Its pretty much standard practice.......albeit in most places it is optional. Allyship innit. I haven't yet succumbed.......but that is because of my backward rural Essex ways.
Anybody else encountered this? on 20:20 - Jun 17 with 2449 views | Ftnfwest | Yes we’re doing all that nonsense as well, although optional. Interestingly though is this eventually going to render the old versions ie. ‘mr, Mrs and miss’ obsolete?
Anybody else encountered this? on 20:28 - Jun 17 with 2382 views | Darth_Koont | That’s a good thing IMO. Takes absolutely no effort from the majority of people but vitally important to the people for whom it is a big deal and crucial to their happiness. I assume you’re just finding it noteworthy. But the people who have a major problem with this are the same breed as the people who had a problem with gays and lesbians a generation ago.

Mr, Mrs and Miss will only become obsolete if nobody has a preference for those prefixes. It's all just about people's preferences innit. I say prefixes because I don't think any of those three count as pronouns as they can standalone as nouns in the same way Major, Prime Minister or Officer can.

Anybody else encountered this? on 20:37 - Jun 17 with 2325 views | NBVJohn | This is becoming common place amongst the younger folk in the large organisation I work for. It is completely down to the individual to decide whether to include it or not. As an old fart I will admit that it took a little getting used to, but I can see that this is a logical progression of inclusivity. I am sure that GB news would have strong views on this, but that’s their problem.

I have seen it a few times - at first, I assumed the person using it was pointing out that they'd had a sex change, so now wanted to be known THIS way. I thought long and hard about how likely that was, given who the person is. I decided it was very unlikely indeed. I then consulted Mrs Freddies Ears, whose thinking, for once, was aligned with mine. We decided it just meant that we're old

There was a similar practice years ago in the Civil Service, but it was more on the lines of 'Facters (tea - milk, no sugar. Two chocolate digestives)'.

To be honest, I am really disappointed with the responses on this thread. I get some were a bit of a laugh etc. But honestly considering we are in the middle of Pride Month, some of you really need to educate yourselves and counter the bias and prejudice you grew up with. Phil we should be celebrating and supporting our own:
