Very strange at the moment - I've heard his name from a few different people now, people that are genuinely reliable, well connected and all very independent of each other.

I know I'm not the only one to have done so, and being told it's very advanced by one in particular, and seems that all Ipswich fans have heard of this now.

But not a peep from TWTD or EADT, or even any of the transfer guys on Twitter like Nixon, Pete O'Rourke, FLW, etc

Is it just an elaborate rumour started by someone and spread out there that has developed a life of it's own? Who knows because I certainly don't!

seems a little far fetched if im honest.

an arsenal player, getting (i think) plenty of game time in the championship with stoke.

bit of a drop down

Given his background it wouldn't surprise me greatly if the news was more concrete locally than nationally. Believe he still has a lot of family and friends in Suffolk, but it's not something I've got any reliable info on.

Would surprise me if it's very advanced yet he played on Saturday for Stoke, but who knows. If Arsenal haven't recalled him then they might think sod it, play him until told otherwise.

Is that not how the club have handled transfers over the past 12 months or so though.

Theres not many players we've signed where journalists have reported it that far in advance. We tend to get a 'Town closing in on...' article out of nowhere and then within a few hours they've signed.

The fact Philly Pip hasn't poo-poo'd it says more to me than anything. Their relationship with Ashton is based on not disclosing deals at the delicate stages, so I understand if TWTD/EADT don't feel prepared to comment just yet.

Although he sis say Mbappe isnt being linked in this window, so I expect him to sign in the summer

None of the loan players Stoke have started at the weekend, apparently Alex Neil doesn’t want any of them (going by their fans)

Interesting you say that, as I thought the pursuit of both Broadhead and Hirst was a lot more public than previous transfers had been.. I know that Ashton and the club were doing a lot to plug any leaks or Def info type stuff from getting out as it could harm our position...

It would surely be a erment deal rather than a loan. So although a drop down, he'd be sold the same vision as Davis and Broadhead.

To be fair, the original link on Broadhead didn't come out our end, it was the Sunderland Echo who reported that.

But yes, Hirst has been one in the public domain, McKenna alluded to that last week as well.

Yeah that’s what I think
It’s probably just people putting 2 and 2 to make 5 as he is an Ipswich boy
Be another great signing though

Yeah I think Hirst is one of the exceptions as Phil had reported interest since the summer.

Broadhead appeared to initially leak from the player side as it was reported by a Sunderland paper IIRC.

The club seem to have a much better grip on leaks these days.

This isn't a thing... Sorry to dissapoint. I'll eat my words if something happens later but as things stand it's fabricated.

My Stoke supporting mate said he's a bit hit and miss and wouldn't be bothered if he went back.

But Stoke fans seem to hate all their players at the moment (other than Souttar) for being lazy and having poor attitudes, so I wouldn't read too much into it.

There’s definitely something in the rumour.

Not sure whether there’s anything in it, but some people on Twitter have just jumped on the back of your posts yesterday (there was another poster too) and are just claiming to be ITK.

I much prefered waiting for the Evening Star to drop through the letterbox for all my transfer news.
All this twitter nonsense and people pretending they know something when it's just guesswork and rumourmongering.

I honestly don't get it. People see someone post something and then present it themselves as some sort of scoop. It's so weird.
