Wrexham - thoughts and feelings? 12:59 - Feb 8 with 4785 viewsunbelievablue

Where do we stand on them?

A fine example of new owners working to understand the history of a club, mixing with fans in sincerity, bringing investment and success to a team and local area?

or

A crass example of yankeedoodledandy imperialism and narcissistic crises aimed at clicks and likes and TV money and clout?

I'm on the fence.

I dislike them purely because their support is friendly with Celtic’s.

It's really not the latter. It's two guys who have gotten to love football and living it out. They don't need the clout and they certainly won't be making any money.

Didn't the fee they got for the first TV series pay for their initial investment in the club?

They seem to be doing things the right way, setting Wrexham up to achieve and b relatively sustainable whilst pouring money (directly and indirectly) into an underfunded part of the country.

I think it is incredibly clever, they have picked up a good sized club at it's absolute bottom end, similar to here really.

Certainly preferable to a Saudi/Russian despot!!

League One will be their ceiling. If they get as far as the Championship the owners will not have the financial clout to compete - whole other ball game there.

That said I hope Wrexham are enjoying the ride - why not!

It's no more crass or yankie doodle whatever than some of our part owners, to be honest, whose hearts seem to be in the right place on current evidence.

Whatever one thinks of the USA, it is not an authoritarian state and it is not in the same category as some sportswashing owners of other clubs.

Whatever one thinks of Hollywood actors, they're still people, and if they conduct themselves with a smile on their face, with genuine fondness for the game, and have the kind of impact on the spirit and the economy of the town that they have so far, well, I think it's a good news story to be honest.

We are no longer in the era of the Cobbolds - this version of ownership is better than most.

Certainly a level of envy knocking around, too.

based on the non-league approach of many League One teams, I suspect they could probably mix it at this level without a huge degree of investment, they're probably already being run on a League One budget?

I expect they'll go straight through League Two next season.

Slightly jealous, as I wish this had happened when I lived up there and used to watch them sometimes. That was back in the days when Carlos Edwards was one of their wingers.

But now, meh. Couldn't criticise them without seeming hypocritical given who our owners are.

I quite like them, really, and hard to begrudge a club/town like Wrexham any success. It's better than a murderous, petrochemical feudalist state buying up a northern city and its football club(s) as part of a global soft power strategy.

Also, their song is fuucking brilliant.

I watched the 1st welcome to Wrexham out of intrigue and expected to hate it and them. Thoroughly enjoyed the series and they seem like good genuine people. Good luck to them.

I'm with Billy Sharp. Wrexham posting Tweets tagging Spurs before they'd even got past Sheff Utd smacked of "Our Hollywood script has a chapter about us playing a Premier League side so step aside peasants".

Plus you can't be "rattled" if you win can you? Seeing a lot of "Sharp was rattled", but his side came out on top. If you say what he said when you lose then it's sour grapes.

I'm sure the explanation for the positions of the two of you has nothing to do with being catholic or protestant.
