Not sure Derby are in form to do us a favour tonight? Barnsley away the bigger.. 07:50 - Mar 7 with 3889 views | unstableblue | … test for our automatic rivals Plymouth Still think Plymouth will edge us by a few points come the final game. But do think they’ll have slip-ups in games that on paper look easy. He’s a bloody good manager, with a good team.

Barnsley away the bigger.. on 07:54 - Mar 7 with 3147 views | DanTheMan | I think you're right but still not an easy game, can easily see it ending as a draw. Barnsley are the bigger concern as you say, wonder if they have enough in the tank to see if through to the end. I think our strength in depth (outside of centre mid) is our biggest advantage right now, as well as players like Clarke and Broadhead coming into form at a perfect time.

Plymouth haven't been hugely convincing of late so will be interesting to see how they go over their next few games, especially if we're able to continue winning and putting the pressure on them.

Barnsley away the bigger.. on 08:02 - Mar 7 with 3103 views | tractorboy1978 | As far as automatic promotion goes, it's do or die for Derby tonight - even Warne said so in his pre match comments. Hopefully they will be fired up and get the win, although a draw would be great for us too. Plymouth will definitely drop points in their 'easy' run in but we aren't going to be perfect between now and the end of the season either. Can't help but feel these next two games are going to be crucial. We need to close the gap to at most 3 points really put the pressure on. [Post edited 7 Mar 2023 8:14]

For me, a draw between Plymouth and Derby would be most useful. Both sides drop two points - one a chaser, the other we're trying to catch. Also Plymouth don't generally lose at home.

Gets us within three points of Plymouth with a far better goal difference and pretty much ends Derby’s hopes of catching us. Another draw for Plymouth against Barnsley would be a perfect result for us. [Post edited 7 Mar 2023 8:56]

those 3 away games at Bolton, Derby, Barnsley are going to be incredibly tough games for us to get 7 points out which is what i think we will need to get to have a chance. In 51 games at home the 3 above have lost 8 games. it's Plymouth's to lose, 5 points ahead with those 3 games coming up, we Need them to lose 3 or 4 on the spin now for us to have a chance. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Not sure Derby are in form to do us a favour tonight? We just need to worry about ourselves and continue our good form - both offensively and defensively.

Nah, for me, the goal is to catch Plymouth. To do that they have to drop points and we have to pick up loads. Wanting them to drop as many as possible is optimal. Derby don't have any games in hand, and we play them. I back us.

If we turn up at our best, we beat anyone though. We need to really make games into one off knockout cup games now, draws aren't any good.

I disagree - think at this stage in the season we can only really be concerned with the clubs above us. Crawling points from Plymouth, in my opinion, is far more important than what Derby etc are doing.

Agree completely. I’m not particularly concerned about those below us tbh and fully focused on catching Plymouth.

To overtake Plymouth we'd have to do well enough that we'd keep the teams behind us where they are anyway unless one of them has an absolutely mega run which we couldn't do much about anyway. Any loss for Plymouth whoever it's against is good for us.

Those results would be great but I think Muff v Derby will be a draw and Barnsley will beat Pompey.

Plymouth have been spanked twice, where as no team has been better than us over 90 minutes this season.

We aren’t promoted if we overtake Plymouth in the next two games. Barnsley will still be 6 behind us with two games in hand. Id rather be a point behind Plymouth on Saturday night with 8 games to go and Barnsley 8 points behind us with 2 games in hand. A draw takes out two rivals with one stroke.

Yeah but you said you'd rather Derby draw with them tonight. Barnsley you could make a case for, but not Derby.

If we're being greedy we want a Derby win though innit. If Derby make up those 5 points on us then it's unlikely either side will have caught Plymouth.

Yes obviously once overtaking them we'd need to stay there and in doing enough to do that we'd do enough to stay ahead of anyone else.

Not sure Derby are in form to do us a favour tonight? Barnsley away the bigger.. on 13:19 - Mar 7 with 1872 views | pafcprogs | So they need to win tonight to have any slight chance of catching us/you/whoever....a draw is no good to them. On the down side Mendes Lang and Barkhuisen like scoring gains us... On the plus side Scarr back in contention (unlikely to start) and our strikers a re scoring again.... If we win this or Saturday then we should be close to ninth points even if we lose all the other away games...which we won't. If we lose them both the door is ajar but you have some tough games. Gut feel is we will know on Saturday evening if this is going to the wire or not... We certainly can't let it be close at the end as your goal difference ( which will improve tonight) is a free point.

Exactly, this thread, and many like it, wouldn’t even need to exist if we’d not completely fcked ourselves by drawing those 6 from 8… And that’s the thing that hurts the most, this is all our own fault
