Go and put a bit of money on the 2nd or 3rd fave and watch the odds change rapidly.

Reported as drifting in on Betfair and yet he seems to be 9-1 and 4th favourite there, not even appearing in many markets: https://www.betfair.com/betting/football/specials/manager-specials/next-permanen

Ffs he's never managed in the Championship yet alone got a team promoted out of it, why would they take a risk? Seriously..

Not the most convincing def info I’ve seen on here.

Odds on new manager after Mick Left:
Cowley brothers - 9/4
Shefki - 7/2
Mowbray - 4/1
McClaren - 5/1

Say no more.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

These are little more than novelty markets really.

IIRC Jack Ross was 1/3 to come here before we got Hurst.

£50 on someone who is 6/1 would be cut to 6/4 within about 10 mins.

Statistically, far more promotions are achieved by managers who haven’t won the league before than those who have (I don’t have data on that, but I’d be gobsmacked if it’s not true). Unless you’re unable to judge the fit of a manager to the club (like Evans), I’d imagine previous promotions isn’t top of the list when choosing. Especially if you’re after an up and coming manager who could be the next big thing.

So bookies decide the odds on 'what they know" ?

You'll be telling us next, the wind blowing is caused by the trees flapping.

And if the bookies know McK is leaving, why are they still taking bets ?

Just think it's far too risky for a big Club who not so long ago won the League and the Cup with the pressure now of returning within a season, KM will know that if things started badly he'd be under huge pressure within about 10 games...the timing is all wrong, imo of course..

Mrfixit426, Kompany is a good point, though he was doing well at Anderlecht..

I was mowing the lawn when I got a message that saying "Boss McKenna. "It’s good news for all concerned."

Thought he'd signed a new contract. Was a little disappointed that he was talking about Chappers and Luongo. I hope the club tie him down to a deal deal and put all of this nonsense to bed.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

You'd be surprised at the number of numpties who still think bookies set the odds on probability, rather than bets laid.

Remember how the betting went over Redknap joining Town - "the bookies must know something..... baa"

They do. There's an awful lot of money to be made out of the 'mug punter'.

I think the language is clumsy. It’s not that the bookies set odds based on being ITK, but if KM was off then enough people would know to fancy making a few quid and thus move the market. Odds often can be indicative of the likelihood of something happening when they move significantly on a market that is open to ‘def info’.

Not that I think it’s happening here, far from it.

In a market with very limited money laid, which I suspect is the case, then it does not take much to move the odds dramatically,

It's not a comparison. It's an example of a manager who fits exactly the description in the comment I was replying to.

Edit: But you're correct, It's not a fair comparison. KM has many more years of experience in coaching at the highest level.
