Those of you claiming not to be nervous 09:00 - Jul 27 with 2540 viewsBondiBlue

Are you actually a little bit nervous though? Because it seems to me that you wouldn't be jumping down the throat of anyone who says "i'm nervous" if you weren't feeling a bit tightly-strung yourself.

It's ok to be nervous. It doesn't have to turn into negativity, which understandably we all want to avoid after so many years of life being rubbish because the football was rubbish. I honestly think that if you don't feel a few nerves before sunderland, there's something wrong with you! But let's not turn on each other.

I’m looking forward to the new season.

No nerves.

I don’t think we’ll do as well as some think, but will definitely stay up, which will be good progress.

RIP Sir Bobby

What's there to be nervous about? We've just lived through the worst period in our club's history, and loads of people welcomed that.

I can't see what's to be nervous about?

Are we likely to crash and burn and take a tonking every week? I think highly unlikely, extremely unlikely to be involved in a relegation fight, so why be nervous?

We're most likely to finish mid to upper mid table, with a fair wind and a bit of luck we could perhaps do better, maybe even a lot better, so surely it's just a case of enjoying the season?

What are you nervous of? Us being relegated? I don't think many would share those nerves to be honest.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Not nervous at all, I saw plenty of championship games last season to make me confident we will more than hold our own.

We have morale, momentum and team spirit to also aid as.

I predict top half 8-12th and maybe a run at the playoffs if we start well and add quality in January.

Your post is a bit bizarre and being nervous about a coming season rather than an individual high stakes game is odd.

Nervous was:
1. for last year when we just had to get out of that dogsh1te division.
2. for the season before when Cook’s bomb squad idiocy meant we went into the season with a team resembling mud chucked at the wall.
3. first season in L1 hoping we’d be too good but knowing we weren’t and the club was a mess.
4. Relegation season under Hurst where I hoped what he brought in would be ok, but feared unloading the club’s best players might kill us.
5. First season under Keane. Going into that season with some money yet bringing in odd signings like that waste of space Lee Martin and being managed by a mad bloke.

Excitement and anticipation is for this season.

Nervous for Sunderland? No, not in the slightest.

1) I can't influence any of it

2) I think we'll be a decent side this season

3) Its an opening game of 46

4) It's only football

Excited, curious, cautiously optimistic? Yes. Nervous? Nope.

Rather than jumping down your throat, I think people just tried to explain to you the meaning and significance of friendlies, which you still seemed to largely ignore.

Thanks for the cod psychoanalysis though.

I'm nervous about paying my mortgage, I'm not nervous about some football matches.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Sounds about right. I was certainly getting nervous at the back end when we were in touching distance, but didn't know if they could carry on the run of form. Barnsley away got rid of the nerves though.

Why would people be nervous?

Nothing to fear or worry about.

A comfortable top half finish, anything else this season will be a bonus.
