Surprised there's not been more made of this by some.

Football is a weird sport. A few too many fans always seem to need a scapegoat as some kind of emotional crutch.

I don’t blame Freddie at all for giving some back. ‘Though of course, those “supporters” will be right on his back again if and when things go against him and/or us collectively.

“Passion” for the club seems to give a little too much cover to moaning, self-entitled @rseholes.

Don’t really blame him. I’ve never known a striker with such a good strike rate to be so unrated by our own fans.

He was deservedly man of the match. He had a lovely turn and shot soon after coming on and then set up Chaplin well just afterwards, which Chaplin should have finished. Then the two goals and some decent hold up play second half.

Was delighted for him yesterday.

When Freddie came on last week a couple near me let their feelings be known before promptly leaving. It's baffling to me. He's such a big part of why we're even in this league.

I didn’t think the point you were making is quite as obtuse as the reaction.

Hint: it’s nothing to do with Freddie.

They've also already forgotten that he scored 21 goals in all competitions last season.

I dont fully understand what the meaning is. If its im not listening to the criticism, id say what criticism?

Theres none coming from the crowd in the ground.

So that leaves some occasional posts on here that question him rather than slag him off. A few tweets?

Do the players spend more time looking at this sort of stuff than we think?

Is it really "mocking" the fans? He is simply responding that he is blocking out what is said and getting on with it, isn't he?

I have been disappointed with how Freddie has played this season until yesterday. He just hasn't seemed right. I was surprised he came on ahead of Scarlett. However, as with any true fan, I was delighted for him to score in the cup and then to follow it up with that performance yesterday. It appears to me like he wasn't fully fit or something but now is.

Anyone who thought he wasn't good enough would fall into the same camp as those who say we haven't got enough Championship experience and are an average League 1 side. Ladapo scored 9 goals in a relegated Rotherham side that scored a total of 44 last time he was in the Championship.

Indeed. It's pretty disappointing to be just 5 games into the season, 2nd in the league and find fans apparently trying to find problems between the players and the fans.

That bit of football where he turned and dummied the defender’s attempts at getting a block in before setting up Chappers for a Chappers special was outstanding.

It was a great save to be fair to all involved.

Good, I want the players to have passion for the club as I do fans. But just because fans pay to watch football doesn't give them the right to make personal attacks on the players without expecting to get some attacks back.

He scores some goals with skill. He scores some goals with fortune or fluke. He gets the flukey ones by being in the right place at the right time. That's a skill in itself. I'll take that. Glad he's part of our team.

I’ll be honest - I have never rated Freddie at all - he gives it his all but used to miss too many opportunities. He scored a lot of goals but out of a hell of a lot of opportunities.

In fairness to him I was judging without truely watching him , yesterday I focused on what he was doing when he didn’t have the ball and it seems we were not really playing to his strengths. His movement in around the box, making space, peeling away from the defender is very similar to that of chaplins. He seems to be a very adept poaching type striker in the lineker mold that I didn’t really notice until yesterday.

So will give him his dues, sorry Fred, yesterday I have seen the light and hold my hands up as didn’t truely appreciate your game, now I do.

His issue is that he rarely busts a gut when closing down and pressing, Hirst being very good at this doesn't do Freddie any favours.

He'll always score goals, but I don't think it's difficult to see why a lot of people get frustrated with him.

Hladky was MOTM in my opinion. Freddie scored one very good goal. He didn't know anything about the second. His play was very good but he was behind Hladky and Morsy imo.
