The last time we beat them…

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/eng_div_1/7990085.stm

Really was a lifetime ago.

God a win is long, long overdue.

Sure is a long time ago, I was 21. I remember jumping on the train after that game to London to meet with my (then) girlfriend. Lived all over since then, worked all over, way too much to even begin to remember. Pretty much everything that could change has changed for me, marriage & kids, all that. Largely for the better. Plus a few constants I'm still very grateful for.

From a footballing perspective to think of all that sh1t we've been through as a club. Very nearly beat them in 2018 with that Chambers goal though, how we didn't hold on to that after going 1-0 up in the 90th minute I'll never know.

Long overdue payback, I hope we absolutely tear them a new on on Saturday.

Got a degree, got buff/lean af, found my soulmate, lost some friends, stopped gambling, got married, got chunky, went bald, moved a ton including to a new country, various jobs changes, bought my first house, got fully qualified, got even more chunky, got a dog.

Only consistences in life are I still love ITFC, I love food way too much and whenever I get money, it's goes out the door quicker and quicker.

Got married
Moved to BSE
Had kids
Got promoted 3 times at work
Son diagnosed with autism
Younger sister got breast cancer, but given the all clear
Didn't see my brother for 4 years following a misunderstanding and him subsequently having mental health issues which no-one knew about
Sister got breast cancer again & had mastectomy
Back in touch with brother again, who has since had a (unplanned) baby
Lost touch with a few old friends, but made a few very good new friends

Great idea for a thread and really makes you step back and think.

Got divorced
Died (for 12 minutes apparently)
Several jobs
Moved up to the smoke
Lost my Dad
gained 4 nephews
Thought I'd seen the end of the ITFC I knew
Found some piece, and my football club

To think there were people not born then who are not far off being adults now.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

I've got older, fatter, and lost more hair!
Lost both parents
Dog died too
I saw my daughter and family move to Leicester for son in laws work
Have had more grandchildren who are the light of my life
The government finally called an Inquiry into the worst-ever NHS tragedy, the contaminated blood issue
Myself and daughter were called to give evidence at The Contaminated Blood Inquiry
I'm living the dream with ITFC at the moment something I thought I would never see again as those years rolled by!

What a weird and wonderful Ipswich team that day, Wright in goal with Bart on the bench, Campo and Dos Santos playing for Ipswich in a side also featuring Pim and Shumi, Shumi starting over Garden, two of our most average players ever, Ben Thatcher playing for Ipswich and Alan Lee playing for Norwich who were being managed by Bryan Gunn.

2009 - Daughter born (second child)
2010 - Company I worked for bought out and I had to tell five great colleagues they were being made redundant (still the worst day of my professional life)
2011 - Moved to new role with global advisory firm
2014 - Moved on secondment to Australia for '2 years'
2016 - Became a permanent resident in Australia, sold our house in UK, and built a house in Australia
2017 - Joined a growing Australian consultancy to set up a new practice
2020 - Became an Australian citizen
2023 - Left consulting firm having grown the practice from zero to $3-4million of annual revenue - to take on an Exec role at one of Australia's largest health services

Gained a few pounds and some grey hairs but thankfully haven't lost any hair yet.

The only constants through that time were my son (now 18), my beautiful wife (25th wedding anniversary next year) and ITFC.

I'm so grateful for Gamechanger and KMac - it was getting harder and harder to stay up until 1/2am to watch the live stream of the rubbish we were serving up before 2022.
