I agree but also some form of penance might reasonably be expected. Perhaps slightly more than saying four Hail Marys.
Say losing his position for instance if only to keep him away from temptation and authority over helpless nuns.

Unless they look to Africa or the USA, which both have some quite hard-line traditionalist/socially conservative leaders.

Less likely to be the latter, with the continued rumblings and aftermath of the child abuse scandal.
