Can you imagine how good it must feel to be Mick 13:40 - Aug 12 with 5664 viewsBluefish

and see articles about Kieffer Moore or Tyrone Mings knowing that he was the one to pluck them from obscurity. He must be very proud seeing them move for big money and play internationally.

I expect he also feels proud about players like Bart, Waggy and Jonas when their careers and values have gone up

You only really need the post subject here. That's all that needed to be said.

Love him on Sky Sports though:

"if I'm the CB I'm leaving one on him early"

Quality.

I am never going to knock Mick's recruitment, some of which was very good, but I do feel it gets a bit overstated at times.

Moore was a decent punt who Mick never gave a chance to. His development since has largely been down to Rotherham and Barnsley but we will give him a little bit of credit here.

Mings was with Southampton, so was hardly that obscure and it was Russell Osman that recommended him anyway. Yep Mick saw enough in him and fair play to him. But again did he know Mings would be that good or was it luck? We also signed Malarcyk for the same sort of money and Gotemi (was that during Mick's time here?).

Knudsen was bought for £350k, which is what plenty of other half decent Danish players have come in for. He played for Denmark but let's not make out like he was their captain. He was drafted in through injury, played alright and made a few more appearances.

Waghorn was shrewd but we all knew he was a decent Championship player. Likewise Bart has improved but was known to be a decent keeper.

Mick was looking for bargains and shopping with peanuts. By definition a lot of players he brought in would not be up to much and anyone that looked good at Championship level would have immediately looked like amazing business. I'm not that convinced that if we'd given him a few lots of £2m to spend we'd have ended up with anything better but we won't ever know.

Wolves didn't do half bad through his recruitment pre premier league.

Kightly, Ebanks Blake, Jarvis, Berra, Henry, Vokes, Edwards, Ward, Stearman all came in under him from memory. Everyone is going to have failures but his recruitment has been consistently solid.

You sign enough players, some will come off, some wont.

He did also sell Keifer because he deemed him not good enough for the Champ.

To be fair, Phil has described Dave Bowman in the past thus;

"Dave Bowman, who has been the club’s chief scout since 2012 but operating under the job title director of football".

As such, he probably does deserve to be given some credit in any transfer success stories during that time.

Reason he was given that title was that Steve McCall was already employed as chief scout when he came in.

The only blubbing I can see is the threads which crop up again and again licking Mick’s arse and stating how great he was even though he left over two years ago. He’s gone, he’s not returning, let’s look forward rather than continually start threads just to take cheap pot shots at other fans which usually result in the majority agreeing he did a good job but the time had come for him to leave. It’s Groundhog Day.
