And his name is Paul.

And he is without a club at the moment.

Let's not have reality come crashing down us, please.

Yeah, but has he played for big clubs? Massive clubs, you wouldn't believe how big those clubs could be, and the infrastructure they had, I know about infrastructure from big clubs, they had it.

Did he? I genuinely hadn't realised that. I always associate him with Everton and Man C.

He’s a minnow in comparison - Accrington Stanley, Wigan, Chesterfield, etc. he’ll get stage fright when he steps out onto the Portman Road pitch. Total crowds in all his previous clubs don’t total one Saturday at Celtic. Small clubs, really, really small.

And Cook is very much associated with Wigan.

I have no issue with Cook coming here. As Pearson was never realistic, I don't think there is a lot of argument with him being the best option.

Apart from a few months at Accrington he has a pretty good win ratio and has taken every club upwards.

Do we know what his preferred style of play is? I’ve been looking around but not found much yet.

But why is Pearson on a short term deal with Brizzle, is he heading up here with their CEO at the end of the season?

He's a Scouser called Paul who has achieved promotion with Wigan Athletic. What could possibly go wrong?

Every club having been at a much lower level than where we want to be, that's the concern.

I don't know enough about him to have a strong view either way, but have my doubts as voiced on another thread:

Happy with the take over.... but, Paul Cook by Swansea_Blue 26 Feb 2021 19:49
I'm not inspired by the idea, must admit. I'd love us to unearth a new rising star instead, but that's obviously a lot harder. Maybe if we have some people who know what they are doing running the club it could be a possibility though.

Cook is a steady Eddie. He's been around for a while and knows his onions, but he's also never set the football world alight. It's all been lower league stuff. We may as well go for someone like Kenny Jackett. There are probably countless others too who would get us out of this league. Solid, but dull.

I could be well wide of the mark of course. He may well be perfectly capable of developing us and achieving great things. Thankfully I don't have to make that decision; it's a judgement call our owner/board (whoever that is!) have to make (and one Evans has got wong consistently).

Interesting times eh? I'll continue give anyone, be it owner, manager or player, support until such time that they show they don't deserve it. That's the least we can do as fans imo. Cook would get my support even if I have some doubts (maybe we need that experience and who cares if the choice isn't imaginative).

I always found it strange about how Lambert always kept banging on about his playing career in relation to his management career. Don't think I've ever heard another manager really do it, Mick won the double with Celtic and got to a World Cup quarter final. We never heard about that every week, Keane never used that as an excuse and he made Lambert's achievements look piss poor in comparison.

How can playing for Celtic and winning stuff and winning the Champions League as a player have any relevance to managing a 3rd tier football team 20 odd years later?

On the plus side he has history with Wolves too.

Just like Joe Royle.

(although actually checking the list Paul Cook clearly wasn’t ever on the list. He is no Ken Foggo.)

So did I. Our best manager since 2002. Top man and thoroughly decent in compare to all 6 managers we have had since his departure.

By how? Magiton has started our decline. We had never been a threat for the top 6 teams.

Jim actually brought us out of that first decline in fairness. It started, though not completely his fault, under Royle.
