He started quiet but played really well I thought. MM played him more in midfield from memory. Scored 2 or 3 games in a row I think - I remember a bullet header off the bar.

He looked good in the league above 3 years ago, and is only 23 now - I'd love to have him back.

Think he was half decent with us under Mick but played as a defensive midfielder whilst, at Fleetwood, he’s been used more as a centre back. Think he’d be a good signing at this level but would definitely prefer to see him play alongside or cover Downes rather than be at the back.

Could be replacement for Downes?

I thought he was good at providing the energy alongside Skuse. I’d definitely have him back and seems realistic.

We could've signed him permanently had it not been for Hurst wanting his own targets.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

Yes, seeing the rumours that Downes has handed in a transfer request so that would make sense.

I think his versatility might be attractive, especially with Skuse, Chambers, Nsiala, Donacien, Wilson, Huws all perhaps moving on from the defensive and central midfield options. He can play CB, RB or in a defensive midfield role. Not convinced he's anything special in either of those areas tbh, but a decent enough squad player at this level no doubt.

Guess Cook had him at Wigan?

Yeah saw Phils news story PC managed him.

I suppose we need a solid versatile player. Dont want to big a squad so having one that can cover various will be a big plus

He ran very strangely.

Think he was fantastic and more than anything had an outstanding personality. Club skipper material imho...

.... and he is a scouser.

He did.

He has been Fleetwood's captain recently too. A proper pro by all accounts, level headed, grafter, leader. And as mentioned already, looked a competent/solid Championship player when he was here. At 23, plenty of room to improve too. A no brainer for me.

Good solid player, bags of energy, can play midfield or defence, a no brainer,

Versatile player, played under Cook and will be a free agent. Has the potential to be a very good signing, however, I do hope we bring in a more experienced midfielder as well. (Played in midfield under Cook).

Been playing CB for Fleetwood but see him as CDM myself.

Would be a perfect replacement for Downes, very similar footballers.

I remember speaking to Cole Skuse about him after one game and he couldn't speak highly enough of him - old head on young shoulders, positioning great and superb discipline were some of the things he said but was waxing lyrical.

More latterly been a centre half, but think if Downes were to go he'd be an excellent anchor in that midfield role
